Anyone Fallen Pregnant While Taking Cerazette?

Hi all,


This is more of a 'just wondering' thread but please read til the end. I am a mummy of 3 boys and also 3 miscarriages. My sons are (nearly) 5 years old,18 and half months and 7 and a half months Anyway,3rd baby was concieved when 2nd was about 5 weeks old,I was due to have the coil but forgot about the appt as 2nd was poorly but when he was better and were not stressing we DTD resulting in baby number 3! Anyway,my doctor put me on cerazette which I have been taking without fail every day,would like baby number 4 but not until LO is at least 2,I did say to wait until he's walking but he's nearly walking now and thats far too soon! Anyway,I have been feeling so awful,I feel sick,I am tired ALL the time,I only have to sit down and I'm asleep! I feel so bloated 'down there',I am also feeling car sick,this has only happened when pregnant. Have any of you fallen pregnant while taking this pill? I'll add that I'm a big girl and have had 3 lots of anti biotics in the last 6 weeks,2 courses due to a chest infection and I'm on another now due to a possible infected anal fissure (looovely!!!)

Oh and I keep getting restless legs and arms,another thing I had in pregnancy. I had a lot of blood and urine tests done with my doctor but had no call so I guess everything is ok,and no,they dont test for pregnancy. Anyone out there that can help? Thanks

Regardless of the "brand" of birth control you're taking, if you've taken three different rounds of antibiotics over the last 6 weeks, then basically for the last 6 weeks you've not been protected by your birth control. Anytime you take any kind of antibiotic while on a birth control pill you always needs to use another type of protection if you want to avoid pregnancy. You really need to take a hpt or have a hcg done by the Dr. Good luck!

I mentioned to my gp about the possibility of being pregnant when I went to see him about me feeling ill,he assured me that taking cerazette,that pill isnt affected by the antibiotics

There are a couple of antibiotics .that could affect this pill, google cerazette and antibiotics hon xx but defo do a pregnancy test if you think you are, cos doc will only prescribe this type of pill if they're positive you're not pregnant, so if you are you need to stop taking it asap I guess xx

I was on cerazette but I was really really rubbish at remembering to take it. When I tried to blag to the docs that it must have been because of antibiotics I had (instead of admitting my recklessness) he said that usually antibiotics actually don't affect the pill unless they are really strong ones used for treating tb. (Damn I was caught out)
Anyway, when I was taking it properly I had all the pregnancy symptoms too, think its because it is basically putting the pregnancy hormones into your body.

I always felt totally convinced I was pregnant when on the pill and the 'symptoms' always faded after a negative pregnancy test - either way it's probably best you do know because if you are you need to stop taking the pill asap! And if you're not then you need to go back to the doctors and get them to check you out xxxxxxxxxxxx

Still feeling 'off' and did a test this morning which was a BFN,even though my youngest is 8 months old and to be pregnant again with having 3 boys already would be a real struggle I am really disappointed! Ah well,thanks for the replies guys Maybe I'll be back in a year or so with a BFP! xx

Doctors and pharmacists tell you to use a barrier with antibiotics as a precaution, it's not to say ALL antibiotics will make the pill ineffective, it's really just to save their asses if you happened to fall pregnant. I was on Yasmin for 3 years, was on loads of different antibiotics over those years without using extra protection and never fell pregnant. I think it's mainly for strong antibiotics and those are usually a "MIGHT" make the pill ineffective. I'd just test for peace of mind.

I fell pregnant while on microgynon, lol.

I guess it had to happen to someone, someday! Lol

But we were ok with it Although I have put many friends off sex for a while as they are now scared. hehe

I just wanted to share my experience, as I often browse these forums for info (as many women do I imagine!), but I never comment.I have recently fell pregnant while taking Cerazette. I have been on it for about a year now, and have never missed a pill. I take it at the same time every day, although since I started taking it, I have had a few symptoms that made me feel I might be pregnant. Each time however, his was a false alarm. until this month. This month I felt different 1 week before my period arrived (cycles are pretty regular-ish). I felt lightheaded, dizzy, had metallic taste in mouth, nausea and generally feeling 'different'. Although my period is not due for another 3-5 days roughly, I have taken 5 pregancy tests that went in the following order.

Faint positive
Stronger positive
negative
v faint positive
strong positive.

I have concluded that I am therefore pregnant!
I am in shock, as I was not TTC, but I wanted to post this on the forum for anyone else wondering if they can get pregnant on cerazette!! it can indeed happen! Im in shock, but also delighted with my wee peanut!

I got pregnant on cerazette 18 mths ago but did end up miscarrying. I also got preg on a progesterone-only pill called noriday 9 years ago and had a healthy baby boy! I think some people are just more fertile than others.
