So, my DH and I just bought a van...not a new one...6 years old but still...it's completely made me nervous. We already have a car but with our twins coming and my 2 step-kids, a van was really our only option. I'm on bed rest so DH went out and test drove a few vans all of the same make and model since we knew what we wanted and he didn't like any of them. On his way home from test driving one, he tells me that he remembers seeing one online and that he would stop by quickly to test drive it then come home. Well, about 20 minutes later I get a call saying that he loves it and he was coming to pick me up. I like it. It's a good van. We went to the dealership and the dealer wouldn't negotiate at all! Well, the price was already $2,500 below the recommended price but still. I managed to get him to go down a whole $100. We will be taking it to a mechanic after we buy it to see if anything is wrong and if so, the dealership will fix anything because we have a 60 day warranty. The only downside I can see to the purchase is the huge fee they are allowed to tack on in my state for selling me the car. Ugh. Still, with all fees/taxes added in, we are still $1,200 below the suggested retail price for the car. But now, I'm so nervous that something will be wrong with the car. You know the stories you hear about something going wrong after the warranty finishes. Well, I am just a nervous wreck now. I know I would feel this way no matter when I bought the car or what car I bought but still...did anyone else feel this way when they bought their car - new or used? This is my first time buying a car this expensive. I usually buy 2k cars as I feel that even if they last for a bit of time, it's not much of a loss if something happens. This is a huge purchase. We are picking it up on Monday and I've only put a deposit, not the whole thing yet as they want their team who doesn't work on weekends to clean it up for us. So, is it just me or did any of you feel this way afterwards? Does the feeling eventually go away? Sorry if this is a bit of a pointless thread but I'm very frugal and this is not helping my anxiety of spending money.

And on a happier note, this is my first baby related purchase (other than a book and maternity clothes). :happydance:

I just bought a used car in March, it was $5000 for everything including warranty, taxes etc. I've previously had a bad touch with cars, and this one is 10 years old so I was slightly worried too. So far though Ive put 5,000 kilometres (not sure what that is in miles) on it and no trouble yet at all.

I'd suggest researching the car online, there are tons of sites where you can read user reviews on any vehicle; you just need the year, make and model.

Good luck
