anyone go to a chiropractor for infertility treatment?

my mom is wanting to us to try that first before going for IVF...has anyone else doen this before and had success? my mom said for us to try a free consult and see what he has to say...and i think we will...but i didnt know if anyone knew anything about this..

I've never heard of a chiropractor claiming to be able to treat infertility, although I believe they are more regulated here than they are in the US. And honestly, it's extremely unlikely to be legit.

I'm saying this as someone with scientific training and who goes to a chiro regularly for back/neck issues, chiropractic treatment has absolutely nothing to do with the reproductive system. Its just not scientifically plausible that it could improve fertility.

My personal opinion is to stay totally away from any chiro who claims to be able to treat anything other than spinal/skeletal problems or issues that can be directly related to nerve problems from the spine. In my experience any chiro who says they can treat other illnesses (unless they are also a registered naturopath or similar, and even then I'd be careful) is a quack.

I hope this doesn't upset you, but I hate to see people get taken advantage of. You've obviously had some treatments already, if they haven't done the trick so far, then IVF is probably your best bet.

okay thank you! my mom goes to this chiropractor and a receptionist or something there told her that she ended up getting pregnant soon after going to him....but idk....my issues are medical...its nothing a back adjustment could do. Thank you for your response i appreciate it

I have heard of chiropractors helping people get pregnant! The spine is connect to everything in the body so it makes sense.

I went to a chiropractor because of headaches that were getting worse, they ran some tests and found that the second vertebrae had shifted and was causing the nerve that leads to my stomach to not work like it should and go figure as soon as they started treating it my headaches were gone and stomach issues as well!

I would try it!

I also heard about spine issues affecting fertility. something in lower back area. I had several treatments which improved my back but did not help us get pregnant. although we also have low sperm count issues so I may not be a good example.

Don't get me wrong, I think chiropractic is great for somethings, I wouldn't be without mine. And the spine is certainly connected to everything, there's no doubt that correcting misalignments of the spine can improve your general wellbeing. I'd just be careful of getting your hopes up for specific improvements in fertility from it.

I know that it can work for things like severe gastric reflux that doesn't respond to medication, so that ties in with 2ying1's stomach issues. But that area is higher up along the spinal column and more closely linked to it than the reproductive system. And fertility is mostly about hormones and structural problems, which I really don't think chiropractors can help with.

But if you want to give it a try then that's up to you, it may help you with other things anyway.
