I had CVS at 11 weeks as amnio was too late for me. It hurt quite a bit and they had to do it twice to retrieve enough material for testing. I had cramps for 24 hours, but no bleeding. They tell you not to go back to work for that time. (Risk of miscarriage didn't bother me as I've been lucky enough never to have trouble conceiving, but I understand this risk may be too high for some.)
Then the FISH, the rapid results, weren't definitive, so we had to wait two and a half weeks for full culture. Results were normal and I felt much more relieved than I would have if I'd only done the blood tests. I'd done those with my daughter and they had shown elevated risk and I worried all the rest of my pg. Not good for someone with anxiety.
