Hi - has anyone had this procedure done? My FS said if the clomid doesnt help my pre AF spotting (which it isnt) then I might have a fibroid/s and will need a hysteroscopy to check this out.

What does it entail, is it painful, etc etc.

Thanks ladies

Hi sorry hon, not had this so can't help, good luck though xx

Hey hun
I had one done last January to check my womb etc. Its completley painless hun so dont worry. You have to lay in a bit of a strange position with your legs up and they put in a plastic tube, a bit like they use for a smear test then the camera goes in through that. Its only like the size of a straw. Sometimes a little bit of water might come out of the end of the camera but its just to clean inside.

Whole thing only takes about 5 minutes. They will probably ask it you want to watch it on the screen but of course its completley optional.

Hope thats put your mind at ease hun.

xxxxxxxx

Hey reba- I had a hysteroscopy along with my laproscopy in July. It was done under GA so i didnt know what was happening. Recovering from lap took some time but hysteroscopy is totally cool. Had some light bleeding for 2 days. they found a small polyp which was removed but was not the problem anyway. I know of someone else who got just the hysteroscopy done and that was also done under GA. Maybe u can explore this option cos under GA its completely painless

Hi sweetie. I've had it done twice. The second was combined with a lap. I was under GA so was totally out. Had some minor cramping when I came to, but it was really nothing to worry about. Good luck hun.

thanks ladies - hoping I get pregnant before its required but thats doubtful!!!

Thanks again

Reba- I had a hysteroscopy but I was under GA because I was having scar tissue removed but when I woke up it was a peice of cake

Reba,
I had a hysteroscopy in February to investigate all the spotting I have (all the way through the luteal phase!). Mine was normal I am a mystery to the consultant.
The procedure was completely painless. You sit in this big chair with your legs bent and feet on little platforms and they sort of half lay you down. A thin camera is inserted through your cervix (it doesn't hurt at all) just like a smear really. You're covered with a sheet too.
My consultant had a look - said everything was normal and then let me look on the screen. It was quite reassuring to see a clear uterus and the tube entrances!
... still not preggers though :-(
