Just wondering is anyone over here in the states have Kaiser medical. Its been about 6 years since Ive had them. I just changed insurance after my LO was born from a PPO to HMO. But Kaiser seems to be a lot different now. Your husband cant go in with you for visits....they tell him only the patient cam go in. Even for Ultrasounds!! Anyone else have this issue?

I have never had Kaiser and I will always choose a PPO over an HMO as it is important to me to be able to choose my provider. That being said, the knowledge I have is related to coverage of rehab services (which is usually terrible), and the fact that you HAVE to go to a Kaiser facility (again, not always a good thing but not necessarily bad either) in order to have things covered. A friend of mine had Kaiser for a time and she didn't seem to have strong opinions one way or another. It is really surprising to me that they wouldn't someone come to the appointments with you. Is it maybe just this office? Also, I think Kaiser rules vary by geographic region. Did you ask why they won't let your husband come with you?

I have kaiser and the only time my husband can't come back with me is during the initial part of the appointment. When they are getting my weight and blood pressure and taking me to the room. After they do that the nurse will go get him to bring to the room.

I have had kaiser in southern California and northern California and they're 100% different with an exception of the name. Northern California being the section I prefer. I did find out just recently they are run by different people which could explain the difference.

Thank you ladies... Yeah, initially they only want the patient when the do the intake. The nurse said because sometimes when the ask personal questions like "ever had abortions? Std's before? How many pregnancies?, that some women lie if their partner is in there with them. But then my following appointments they still wouldn't let him back. When i had my 13 week scan, i asked if my husband could come in and she said no... I was devastated... But then she said if we have time she can bring him back. I do really like the facilities and i feel like the quality of care is excellent, but i don't know what it will be like come delivery time. Im in southern California.

Maybe it was just at that specific appointment? I've only brought my husband to one appointment with me and he pretty much sat in the waiting room the whole time. They didn’t want him there because they had a lot of "personal" things to discuss with me. Ever since then I've told him not to bother with coming, just because it'll probably be the same thing. And it usually is.

The only appointments he has come to since was the 20 week anatomy scans. I had two because they didn't get all they needed the first time. They said nothing about him not being able to come back with me. It wasn't even in the same area I usually go, since it's done through radiology.

Just keep bringing him with you if you can, and ask why they won’t let him back.

Yeah, my 20 week scan is next sunday. Hopefully they let him come with me. Yhank you!
