So I gave birth 6 days ago :-) My daughter is absolutely amazing!

I was expecting to have to really work at my weight loss, pre pregnancy I was a size 10, fairly athletic body. I was ready to gain weight, and I gained 29lbs throughout my pregnancy.

On the day before I have birth I was 157lbs. The day after birth I went back to the hospital in my size 10 leggings. 6 days later and I'm down 17lbs. My belly is almost back to flat and I've lost weight off my arms and thighs.

Is this normal? I'm not complaining but I thought it was a bit rapid.... I'm not doing a lot, had stitches so kinda restricted. I am breastfeeding though.

Anyone else lose weight rapidly after birth?

Yep! I was back in my size 10s after 5 days. After a week my belly was back to normal. After 2 months of bfing every hour and I was down to a size 8. I'm still 7lbs lighter now than I was before pregnancy. I was happily amazed but I put it down to bfing completely.

Yup, I was small prepregnancy, gained 31lbs while pregnant and within 5 days was back to my old size. I'm now -4 lbs from my prepregnancy weight and hungry all the time. I'm giving the credit to breastfeeding.

Yes me! In fact I ended up half a stone lighter than pre pregnancy, which for me isn't a good thing. I too am breastfeeding and it's been better since DD started reducing her feeds, but for a while I had to fight to stop loosing weight. A nice problem to have many would say, but I really was too thin! I'm pretty much back to normal now and my build sounds rather like yours.

I was lighter than my pre pregnancy weight by my 6 week check up. And that's with a c section and so couldn't exercise other than a gentle stroll in those 6 weeks. However, my hips have spread so I'm actually slightly bigger than before :s

I was below my prepregnancy weight by a little over two weeks. My hips and legs also seem to have shrunk and now five weeks postpartum my belly is just an inch or two above what it was and my waist too... Hope they shrink a bit more...

I gained 25 lbs during my pregnancy and was normal weight beforehand. (BMI of just under 22).

Had a c section and all my jeans sit on my incision, so still cannot wear them cause it hurts. :P

I managed to get to a stone lighter than I was b4 I get pregnant within 2 weeks but unfortunately when I stopped Brest feeding I put it'll all back on and then sum lol I'm now in a constant fight with the scales coz the waight just won't shift

I wish!

I am breast feeding and never lost all my pregnancy weight after my first so was really big at end of my last pregnancy!

It's taken me 14 weeks at slimming world & I'm still about 8lb off my per first pregnancy weight! I joined when LO was 3 weeks old!

Hoping by June I will finally be below my pre pregnancy weight (was over weight to begin with!) as I know I will find it harder to loose weight when we stop breast feeding and I will start introducing formula ready for going back to work when he's 6 months!

Yep! I was back in my size 3 jeans the next week. Not quite as comfortable, but they fit! I still can't button my low-riding jeans but I think that's because my hips are bigger now. Everyone tells me it's because I'm young but I'm not complaining ! ;)

It's probably more the breastfeeding/lack of excessive gain. I've always been very athletic but teh weight never flew off with #1 (formula) and my stomach never went down. With #2, I gained the same amount, but the weight came off quick (I'm back PP) and my stomach went done within a day, it was crazy. he is BF and the contractions for the tummy were yikes!!

I gained 30lbs during pregnancy and lost it all in the first 2 weeks postpartum. Now at almost 8 months I'm thinner than I was before I got pregnant. I think it's all due to breastfeeding and carrying the baby around. I am trying not to lose anymore because OH likes me curvier.

I was the same.

I didn't gain a huge amount of weight when pregnant, about a stone and a half. I still wore my size 8 leggings all during pregnancy, wore them coming home from hospital and was back in my size 8 jeans 2 weeks after giving birth. I could have worn them sooner if I hadn't had stitches.

I was 8 stone pre-pregnancy, 9 1/2 stone when I gave birth and within a week I was 7 stone 10lbs! I put it down to just being rushed off my feet and not really having time to eat. I'm thinner now than before I was pregnant and my stomach looks just the same. I will never moan about this, as I was very lucky.

ETA: I never breastfed either.

I'm down 70lbs from birth.. I'm 25 below my pre preg weight now. Definitely not complaining !! I did have bad sudden onset pre E so about 30lbs of water came off in the first few weeks

I lost a couple if stone (28lb) in a couple of weeks after! I put on about 42lb, a lot of that was water tho! In the car mirror on the way home from hospital my face looked loads thinner lol. Think I wee'd all my weight out as I ff as of day 3!
By 7 months id lost all pregnancy weight and more! Body not the same tho, iv never had a flat stomach despite being size 8 so nothing lost there but boobs t saggy and there is excess skin! Nothing good underwear can't help with! Xxx

I put on 20 kilos in pregnancy in two weeks I lost 15 kilos. And now at 6 months after I am back at pre preg weight, actually a kilo lighter ( that's big for me :) )

I think I gained upwards of 24kg while preggo and for the first time since having my baby I weighed npmysekf today. I am back to my prepreg weight and I had no idea. I have been too scared to try on my old jeans because despite being back to my usual weight Ian sure my hips look bigger! It's a trick, I tell you.

I lost six pounds six ounces instantly!!

But I'm still not quite back into all my old clothes :nope: Almost, but not quite.

I'd say its definitely the breastfeeding that helps.

I quickly went back to my pre pregnancy weight afterwards, my tummy went down fast too my midwife was surprised and I was and still am breastfeeding x
