Hi,

I am 25w and at my OB appt today my belly is measuring ahead by a month. My Dr is thinking I might have too much fluid so will have a scan next week to check. He didn't seem too concerned, but I am. I also found out I have GD and he thinks that is causing the extra fluid.

Has anyone had this? Is it something to worry about?

Gd does cause increased fluids- that is actually quite common. Since you have already had your twenty week scan it is Almost positive that your LO doesn't have an abnormality which causes this (some abnormalities can cause increased fluids). Most likely you will be monitored more- which is common. Your dr doesn't see it as a concern because at twenty weeks the baby's kidneys are looked at as well as bladder which can be one of the abnormalities I mentioned above. All signs indicate your gd as being the culprit- you'll be just fine!

Thanks so very much! You made me feel a lot better!! I was worried when I googled it and it said it could be an abnormality. I actually have had my 20 week u/s and then another u/s at 23w (I have a cerclage and they have to measure my cervix often) and the baby looked good kidneys and bladder were checked. My baby was measuring a bit big- in the 70th percentile, so maybe that is also why I'm measuring big when they do the fundal length in the office. I'll be having another u/s next week to check everything again, but sure hope it's just do to GD.

Thanks again!

No problem hun an abnormality would've Definitely been seen! The fact your baby is a little larger only makes me believe even more that gd is to blame. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I am sure all will be perfect :)

I had polyhydramnios with my second pregnancy, without having gb. I was monitored more often than usual, but had no complications. Baby was born 10 days late, completely healthy! xx

thank you thank you thank you! I have been so worried about this. Good to hear things turned out for you mamad

 Just happy I could ease your mind....xxx....
