Well i was just diagnosed with GD I see the dr on thursday to get referred to a specialist i'm just wondering if I will get extra ultrasounds to check on babys size? I live in BC anyone in canada know??
I have gd which i developed @29 weeks, but prior to that because of other past complications in previous pregnancies i have weekly ultrasounds. Its usually my ob that schedules thee ultrasound and not the gd specialist. I am not sure if its different in BC cause im in Ontario. gl
You will get more because of the GD. Type 1 you have a lot. Not sure if it's any less then type 1 but if it's the same you'll have one prior to 30 weeks, 30 weeks, 32 weeks and probably every week after that. I'm type 1 from Ontario.
Thanks ladies I see the dr on Thursday than I'm assuming a specialist the next week. I went to a great ultrasound place so I'm guessing my dr will send me there again. I'm 29 weeks tomorrow so hopefully sooner than later.
Just wondering if you had any sign/symptoms of GD? I'm in BC and my doc wants me to go for the glucose test just because it's standard procedure, not b/c there are any indications that I might have it or be likely to get it... but I really don't like the idea of the test. Plus I live very far from town and my next trip planned to town is after I'm 28w so I'd be too late anyway!
Just trying to find out if it's worth making a day trip and suffering (I can't get to town until 10am so fast would be way longer than it's supposed to be unless I get up and eat at 2am )
Im in BC and I had to wait till 28 weeks to take the test I did the two hour and it wasn't fun waiting but it's for the baby's well being and my own. I did have symptoms that I didn't know were symptoms at the time like being overly tired after eating was a big one. If it goes untreated it can not only lead to a bigger baby meaning a possible c section but also other health concerns to both of you. I am measuring right on so I wont get any ultrasounds unless I start putting on inches in the next few weeks but I go to a clinic next week to get my glucose monitor and a diet plan. Not to sound rude but your baby and yourself should always be worth the trip!
I had them every 2 weeks(I'm in Ontario)....every 2 weeks I had to pee in a cup, have the u/s meet with a nutritionist and then meet with the doctor......It was so hilarious because my numbers were so low...I never had ANYTHING to talk to the nutritionist about...hahaha....but..I got to see my gorgeous little girl every two weeks so that made it worth it.
