I'm just outside of Romford (London side), abut 20 mins to Liverpool street : )

I am a bit worried actually as my closest hospital is Queens in Romford... which has been in the papers every week for the past few months for the appling maternity ward (even though its a new hospital). midwives ignoring mums, not taking pains seriously.. one poor women even died recently. My OH says 'there is no way you are going htere' but do you have a choice or do you have to go where they refer you? I am really worried. Am even considering a private midwife so I have one,. qualified person with me they might listen to.

I'm Romford too. Unfortunately I'm high risk so I have to have baby at Queens which is scary (even though I also work there ). If you're low risk you can go to king george's, other than that I guess when you're in labour you can just show up anywhere can't you?

I'm in London too! Not sure which hospital to choose. We live in NW3 and the royal free is the closest but I'm thinking of going for St. Mary's as the new private wing will be open. Any one else consideringn private?

Not at all as my experience with nhs has been brilliant so far. I'm going to Queen Charlotte's.

Gosh.. so you have the inside track... is it *really* as bad as they say? One lady on here said she had a really good experience there and in fact may not even be here if it wasn't for how good they were... maybe its just bad luck with teh other stories but it just seems odd there are so many of them.

I'm down for Kingston too! Woo! I was born at Kingston 26 years ago =) Had my DD at West Middlesex but we've moved now. How's everyone doing? x

im kinda from there i was born in london and my dads side of the family live down there so i go when i can to see them most are in romford

Hello all girls and SE London girls! I'm near bromley/beckenham, and will be at Farnborough (I mean..Princess Royal University Hospital..or whatever they call it now...) or having a homebirth (strongly considering!) how far along is everyone...?

I live in London too (around Kilburn) and am hopefully going to be going to St Mary's for the Birth Centre :D

Hi,

I'm Wanstead and have signed up for Homerton Hospital. Heard terrible things about Queens and Whipps so after researching a little more I decided on Homerton.

I had my first at UCH and they were brilliant, but VERY VERY busy. I think all the hospitals are busy at the moment, it depends on how busy they are when you go in as to what service you get I think.

I'm in SE London, due 18th Dec.
Anyone else in SE who wants to meet other expectant mums and benefit from movement, breathing and birth education all rolled into one let me know x

Madrid98 - have you delivered at QC's and if yes, were you private or NHS patient? Did they treat you well, were you happy?

I'm high risk and was wondering if they would take me as they are quarter mile closer to me than St Mary's Paddington and I am too traumatised to go back to StM's after my last experience there...

TiredNurse27 - is that to say high risk patients are better of at Queen Charlotte's? I'm high risk (unicornuate uterus, weak cervix, history of extreme PTL, blood clots, interstitial cystitis, the list goes on). I am traumatised by my previous experience at St Mary's Paddington and would rather avoid it in future pregnancy and was wondering if you would recommend QC's....

Lollycake - hi neighbour, i'm from Willesden Green. Are you a patient at St Marys now? I think our GPs around this area all refer patients to St Marys even though Queen Charlotte's is same distance if not closer.

SW London here too. I am going to Queen Charlotte's and so far I like it very much. It has been recommended to me by several women now. And what it says on their website also sounded good to me. Just one snippet here: "The hospital is a tertiary referral maternity unit with a nationally renowned centre for fetal care and the largest neonatal intensive care unit in the country. It has a labour ward with two fully equipped operating theatres adjacent to high-dependency care facilities."

I had my first in Queen Charlotte's and have to say the birth centre is lovely :) You get a nice big room with your own bathroom, and your partner can stay overnight too! Just be sure to bring some food for your partner - there is nowhere round there and the Costa in the lobby downstairs closes at 7pm. My poor husband had to survive on biscuits!

I am in Ealing and will be having my second at Ealing hospital, as it is only a 10 minute walk away!

I'm in Crouch End, North London. Anyone near me?

I'm going to the Birth Centre at The Whittington in Highgate all being well. I'm currently 'Low risk'. Good thing is, the labour ward is just on another floor in the same building as the birth centre so if there are any complications it's not far to go!
