Hi, ive just had early scan today and they found a 4cm cyst on my left ovary. I do get a bit of pain from here, ive never had them before, can anyone give me any more details??
Thanks :)

cysts are pretty common for me. I don't think I've ever had an ultrasound where my ovaries were clear of them! They usually go away on their own...mine always have, but they might monitor you to make sure it's not getting bigger. It's very common, especially in the ovary you last ovulated from.

I've read some stuff i just wanted to here it from real life if you get me :D Thanks

Hi, I had a cyst when I was carrying my daughter, which they discovered at my first scan, they are apparently really common, they kept an eye on mine because it was quite large but even though it carried on growing it didn't cause any problem with pregnancy or delivery. I had my second daughter shortly after my first so didn't have time to have it removed in between pregnancies and had it removed after she had finished breastfeeding. I must stress mine was the size of a small orange and adhered onto my ovary, that was the only reason i had it removed. My consultant said they do go away on their own very often, or are simple fluid filled cysts that don't cause any problems and that lots of women have them and don't know anything about it unless they have an ultrasound. I didn't mean to worry you by mentioning having it removed, just to reassure you that even if it doesn't disappear it shouldn't affect your pregnancy and all will be well. I'm sure your doc or midwife will reassure you too. Take care and best wishes x

Thank you :) they said they would keep an eye on it, my routine 12 week scan isnt to far away so they will prob tell me more about it then x

Is the cyst the corpus luteum cyst? Most pregnant women, actually I think ALL pregnant women have it. It releases progesterone (I think) until the placenta takes over around 9-12 weeks, so that's what keeps baby alive! I've had pain from mine with all 4 of my pregnancies. But once the placenta takes over it should go away.

They didn't say, she just said cyst on left ovary will keep an eye on it,they common..so hopefully that will be what it is :) i dont remember them saying anything when i had my son..oh well will see! Thank you :)

Hi, I had a cyst before I got pregnant. About that size. It was endometrioma... That is spelt wrong. But like endometriosis on ovary I think. Good thing about getting preggers is that it clear up due to the different hormone levels. Cysts are quite common, there are different types. But they told me same thing... They would just keep an eye on it...and it vanished.

I also had a corpus luteum cyst with both of my pregnancies, it ruptured early on with this pregnancy (like 4wks 5days) and they thought I was having an ectopic pregnancy (which it wasn't) and then it reformed because the corpus luteum supplies progesterone for the pregnancy. They can be a little uncomfortable but are no harm to the baby. Good luck!! :)

Thank you :)
