With my last pregnancy, dr. had me come in day after BFP to test HCG levels. That was a Friday (4w1d). I went in again on Monday (4w4d) for another blood test to make sure levels had doubled. From readng your posts, this appears to be very common. HCG levels decreased (Friday - 30 and Monday, 25) and Tuesday I lost the baby.

But pregnant again and visiting new doc (for LOTS of reasons). I had a new patient appointment scheduled since a couple of days after my last pregnancy ended and definitely didn't expect to be pregnant again so soon, so made the appt. for July 15th. I called the dr. as soon as I got BFP and asked if I should come in earlier. She called back and asked me lots of questions (I love her already!) and said we could keep original appointment. I have no idea what they do at these appointments since I didn't get far last time and I'm sure they will take blood then, but now I'm driving myself crazy with trying to know what my hcg levels are and if they are doubling! Anyone not have blood work done in the beginning? I wish they had a home test for hcg levels!!!!

In my pregnancy after my second lost, I was refused blood work :( I ended up relying on the clearblue digital tests with conception indicator, and tested weekly for three weeks (which could have potentially caused me more worry, but didn't )

The worry is horrible hun :hugs:

nhs routine bloods not till 12weeks usually, only do early tests if they have reason to be sure and such.

I dont know if it is any help when I had my mc did not have bloods done used concetption indicator went from not to 1-2 then 2-3 then three days later whent back to 1-2 then 3 days into bleed said not. Just got pregnant and doc decided to do bloods incase it was left over hormones at 3+6 was 73 conception indicator said 1-2 and at 4+5 was 1297 2 days before that conception indicator said 2-3 and 2 days after said 3+ (as you can see I use pregnancy tests for reassurance).

Thank you Pippa. I am sort of using hpts for reassurance too. I only have 1 more digi at home, but it isn't the conception indicator kind. I was thinking of getting a Walgreens digi since their sensitivity is 100 ml/u. I figured even if hcg was low when I got first bfp on Sunday, it should definitely be over 100 by now. I'm scared though!

I am a total poas aholic. At least every other day at the moment but only use the conception indicators 1 a week if I can. Using a less sensitive one is a good idea but you might frighten yourself if your wee is not stong enough. I also find comfort in my tender nipples and feeling sick. Hormones must be doing their job if I am and was first thing I noticed going when I mclast time

Well, I broke down and bought the Walgreens test. I barely had enough pee to get the stick wet so I tried to tell myself that this test may not be good and I may have to try again later. Low and behold, within 20 seconds, the word PREGNANT came up - woo hoo!!!! It was definitely reassuring, at least for today. :) I'm doing what I can to pray and not get worked up about every little thing and am hoping that dr. appointment I have next thursday will calm me even more.

Chippy, I've had 2 losses and am baffled that they haven't taken any blood from me. I keep thinking I have an ectopic or the baby isn't growing, etc. I have tons of worry not knowing what my hcg levels are. I was going to ask, but am getting a scan on Tuesday at 6+4, so just decided to wait for that. So yes, I know exactly how you feel!

It is awful when you dont know where you are. I use the sticks but THey are all in the interpretation

I didn't get quantative hcg done, used the digi with conception indicator once a week - did get an early scan at 6+4 and saw the hb so that kept me reassured ( for a bit!! :) )

Yes, the reassurance helps, but doesn't always last. :) I'm further along now than last time, so that is good. I'm finding myself being a POAS-aholic too as I did again this morning. :)

Lol stupidest thing I did was got a pos in the morning and then wanted reassurance so tried to test again in the evening when I was very early on and of course just managed to upset myself

Blood work isn't generally done in the uk, we rely on digi tests, have totally been there!
