Hiya helen, we can met buddies!!! u had any effects yet?? xx

Hi there!

I was put on metformin last year October. I was diagnosed with PCOS a very long time ago, but it was only when I went to the doc to discuss help with ttc#1 that they put me on met. I was given 500mg per day for the first week, then 500mg twice a day for the second week, en then I was SUPPOSED to take two 850 mg tablets a day, but I got confused (or so I've been told as I'm sure that's what the doctor told me to do but anyhoo) so I only took 1 850mg per day. I didn't get my period up and to three months later when I went to my GP for a repeat on the perscription and she pointed out that I should take 850mg twice a day. Within two weeks I had my period, and seems that I am now "regular". Personally I think it's because I am now taking the right amount of met for "me" (hope this makes sense!) Before I never new....could be three months in a row...could be missing for 12 months... Met didn't help me with conceiving though, so was given clomid 2 weeks ago, however I have read many many many stories of people falling preggers on met - some people rediculously fast :). I'm glad I gave met a good go though before getting onto the clomid, would've preferred falling pregnant that way, however am in a little bit of a hurry to start our family!

xxx

I used Metformin with Clomid, success the first month. Miscarried at 7 weeks, but my progesterone was low. Used it again 2 months later, success! I am now 17 weeks 3 days had to take progesterone the first 12 weeks though. It must have helped. Good Luck to you!

So, I have been on Met since Feb. 1 and take 1500mg per day but I still have not gotten my period. All I am getting is crappy mood swings! *pout* Oh well... Clomid in May!

Omg hun i cant believe ur still waiting, have u been in contact with ur consultant???

Actually, I am just trying Met for 3 months and then on May 5th I go back. If I am not pregnant or have not gotten AF then they are going to jump start my periods (with some drug that starts with a P - I am too lazy to look it up. LOL) and then I will start Clomid! *crosses fingers*

I had such high hopes for Met but I am not totally blowing it off and hopefully May will be my lucky month!

Jezzah I have been prescribed the same dose of Met as you. From tomorrow I go up to 500mg x2 daily and then next Friday up to 850mg x2 daily. Good luck hun, I hope everything works out for you.

connorbaby810 Congratulations hun, It's nice to hear success stories. My Doc is planning on putting me on Clomid in 3 months time so fingers crossed.

genkigemini Good luck hun, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I haf been takin metformin since january as suggested by my GP got AF within a week very little though...GP referred me to the fertility clinic the consultant thr ask'd me 2 strt clomid and he said metformin dusnt help much (that's wht he said.)...and ask'd me to continue met wid clomid as metformin helped me lose weight .....BUt I've got AF in feb on time I dnt really knw is it cuz of metformin or bcuz I lost weight....
All in all I guess clomid is better than metformin (as told by my consultant)...Heard a lott bout metformin though...
I've been takin metformin and finish'd a cycle of clomid ....had a scan on the 3rd on dis mnth waz told dat the clomid wrked and would be ovulating within 24-48hrs...Im post ovulation now...fingers crossed until the 18th ..Hope AF dusnt show her face agn..
wish u luck wid metformin...hope it wrks for u ......

I'm now in to Week 2 and have increased to 500mg twice daily. Not feeling too bad and I think/hope :witch: is on her way. Had tummy cramps for the last few days and a small amount of dark discharge for the last two(sorry if tmi).
On Wednesday I had the shakes quite bad but they went about half an hour after I ate something. Has anyone else had this? How is everyone else doing?

not doing too bad thanks i am now on 1500mg the worse i have had is diahorrea and also nausea and tired ness i go up to 2000mg on tues u okay??? xx

Not to bad thanks. I'm up to 850mg x2 daily now and getting some diahorrea and nausea. On the plus side though I have had my first AF in 3 months so something is deffinately happening.

I've stopped taking my met. I had to do something as my AF is so far overdue it's ridiculous. Every since I stopped a began to get regular AF cramping a couple of days later. I am going to start again after AF is finished, and with the clomid I hope that it will equal a good month!
