Ladies, I was just wondering if there's anyone who experienced ectopic pg before and either pg now or already had a healthy baby..I am so worried!!!
I am not sure if I am pg - will be POAS tomorrow!- but I do think I am and it's very scary. I had a sudden and rare abdominal ectopic pg in Oct and I am not sure what my chances are for a succesful pg!! The ob said he really had no idea why it happened to me.
I could use some encouragement....
Thank you!!

Hi there,
Firstly I am sorry for your loss. I wanted to give you hope! I had an ectopic last march and am 22 weeks pregnant.

I was also due to have the other tube removed in January as drs thought the same thing would happen and that it too was abnormally long. 11 weeks before the op I found out I was pregnant.

Good luck, dont give up hope. XX

Thank you so much! Wow, abnormally long tube? Never even heard of such a thing. Congrats to you!!!!!

I had no idea about long tubes but it was too long for the foetus to get down in time to implant, and it got stuck in the tube. Did you have the tube removed or methotrexate?

If you only have one tube you could discuss clomid to improve your chances of ov on the "good" side ( although there is a school of thought that suggests it makes it way down anyway). My gp was great and I was pregnant by the second cycle of clomid.

Very best of luck. X

hi!

My sister in law had an ectopic pregnancy and had to have her tube removed. 5 months later she fell pregnant with a healthy, in-the-right-place baby and she is due in June. There's always hope. the doctors said to her that they had no idea why it happened either, just one of those awful random things. :hugs:

Sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic pregnancy and had emergency surgery to remove one tube. I went on to have my son and am now pregnant again, both times I got pregnant the first month after coming off the pill. The hospital gave me an early scan each time to make sure that the baby was in the right place, which was very reassuring. Good luck! :hugs:

Ok so I was looking for a better answer on the whole, ovulating/one fallopian tube issue and came across this answer:

Even though only one of your tubes is known to be open, it is possible for your good tube to pick up the egg from either ovary. While you may think of the tubes sticking off the uterus like the arms of a scarecrow, in reality they hang behind the uterus. The right and left ovaries and tubes are often quite close together back there. Usually an egg released from the right ovary goes into the right tube, but not always. Fallopian tubes are mobile and are attracted to the egg by chemical factors present at ovulation. So the right tube can sometimes be close enough to pick up the egg from the left ovary, and vice versa. Therefore, it isn't worth trying to predict which side you are ovulating from, if you were going to use that to decide whether you might conceive that cycle. Go ahead and try every cycle.

Thank you so much Ladies!!
I only have one ovary left as my right ovary ruptured with cysts last time when I got pg with the ectopic. They don't know why or how it happened but baby ended up in my abdominal cavity, attached to the peritoneal membrane. and at the same time the right ovary ruptured. Go figure! I never got an explanation why it happened - they said it was 1 in a 1,000 000 and it was nothing but a coincidence as my tubes were clear and no sign of scarring, infection, etc..

i had my right tube removed 28th september 2008 i fell preg july 09 so it can happen! i also have a friend that has only one overy an shes fallen pregnant twice! hope that helps you xx
