Anyone Pregnant After an Ectopic?

Hi ladies,

As the title says I am looking to get some advice/experiences from anyone who is or has gotten pregnant after an ectopic. I had my ectopic in March of this year and was lucky to miscarry naturally without needing the MTX shot or surgery.

I have now just recently found out I am pregnant again, and finding it very difficult to get excited and am (frankly) a nervous wreck worrying about another ectopic. I am having twinges (of a light-medium intensity, kind of like a pulling sensation?) in the exact area of my previous tubal and I am worried that this means another ectopic.

I am trying to tell myself that it is just my scar tissue stretching as my uterus stretches, but that is little consolation when it keeps happening quite frequently and makes me obsess that this is another tubal.

Anyone made it through a pregnancy after ectopic to the stage they know it's intrauterine and felt such tugs/pressure on their tube areas? It would be great to have some reassurance to get me through the next 2 weeks or so until (hopefully!) my midwife will book me for an early scan to make sure.

TIA

I miscarried on February 19th at 6 weeks with a possible ectopic. They saw some shady shadowing in my right tube/ovary so I was given to shots of MTX. We waited the required three cycles before trying again and are now happily pregnant.
I had those same pulling sensations during my first trimester and was freaked out the entire time. It wasn't until my 12 week scan that I finally felt that I could relax. I pray that the next eight weeks go well for you and that you and your LO are perfectly healthy!

Thank you SO much for your reply kellen! Just having a tiny bit of hope by knowing you felt them too and are safely in your 2nd tri means so much to me! Wishing you a h&h rest of your pregnancy!

Tawn, you are so welcome. I completely understand because I was a basket case during my entire first trimester. It wasn't until week 12 that I started to calm down and that was only after an ultrasound (which wasn't scheduled, but neither was the car accident which preempted them to do another scan). Even now I still get random twinges and pains in my groin area, but I believe they have moved into the realm of round ligament pain. I wish you a happy and healthy nine months as well. And congrats!

I am. My 7th loss at the beginning of this year was an ectopic, but we didn't know until rupture and I lost my tube. One of my biggest fears is losing my other tube (since last time no one suspected it, even my OB after an u/s and bloodwork!).

I am pretty much demanding an early u/s after that.

However, I know what you mean about feeling those achey pulls in the areas of your tubes. Some reassurance...your ligaments that attach to your illiac crests being stretching right away in pregnancy, and you will feel it right in that same area. ;)

Thanks again Kellen :hugs: I just can't attach to this pregnancy until I know it isn't ectopic, it is awful!

Hi elohcin! How far along are you now hun?

I know what you mean about demanding an early scan. I saw my Dr yesterday and he seemed to agree that I would need (and get) one at about 6 1/2 weeks, but that I would have to get ahold of the midwife to arrange it. Well she hasn't contacted me yet so I assume I am going to have to chase her up to make sure it gets done and I hope you do the same!

Frankly, I have had some mild AF type cramps today in my uterus, and it at first made me hopeful that the bean was in the right place but then I remembered that I had those with my ectopic because my body cleverly created a "pseudosac" which grew in my uterus last time as well as the yolk sac in my tube :dohh:

I had bloods drawn today as well but wont get my results until Monday and my 2nd draw isn't until next Thursday so still a bit of a wait ahead of me!

How about you?

I am 4w4d today. I, too, had some blood drawn today and it was so frustrating because no one there has a clue what is going on, and I feel like I have to demand and fight for everything I know I need at this point. Very frustrating!!!!

I don't go back until Thursday so I have a wait as well!

That is so annoying that you have to tell them how to do their jobs! I am glad you are fighting for it though, rather than rolling over.

We are really close in dates then hun! My ticker (4w6d) is from LMP but from when I think I O'd I am only 4w2d.

Have you had any symptoms yet?

I haven't. Have you? I have only had one pregnancy where I really got any symptoms, and that was a miscarriage. But the rest, even my successful pregnancies, were pretty much symptomless (though I don't really consider myself "lucky" for it or anything, you know?). I do get slammed with LATE pregnancy symptoms very early on so that makes up for it, I guess. ;)

Hey :)
I had an ectopic April 2010, had to have surgery (A&E screw up) and lost my right tube. I am now pregnant again and even at 24 weeks I sometimes feel nervous about it. I don't remember having pains in the area, but I did make sure I got the early scan to make sure in the right place this time. I had to fight for it, but I got it and I hope you can get one too. Each little bit helps :)
:hugs: I hope this pregnancy is in the right place for you :)

Thanks GreyGirl, I am happy to hear that you are so far along with a healthy pregnancy after an ectopic! I hope the rest goes smoothly for you hun!

Elohcin, I am not having massive symptoms, but a few. If I let myself get hungry (especially in the morning) I get really ill, plus I am having a lot of severe tiredness, but for the most part it is gentle things. Like slightly sore nipples, the occasional boob twinge, occasional uterine cramping, headaches off and on (I remember these from my last pregnancy, they were killer!) etc.

So I am not yet hunched over the toilet nor unable to sleep from sore boobs, but I am going to continue to hope everything is going to go well with this one.

Have you contacted your midwife yet?

HI

I've had two. So can totally understand your anxiety - I felt exactly the same. What I would say about this pg that was different to my last two (eps) - I got a bfp before af was due (with ep it wasn't until the day and was faint) and the tests got darker, progression was much more evident. So I have to say - though I knew that this def did not mean this pg was not ep - it did make me feel a little more confident this one was in the right place.

As for the twinges and pains - normal in all pregnancies - however I still feel twinges in my right tube now - and I'm 15 weeks. Don't think you ever lose them.

Hope this turns out well for you.

xx

Thanks so much looloobelle! I have been taking ICs every morning with FMU to check my progression and it seems to be doing pretty well (although you can never REALLY be sure with them as the amount of dye etc is so different in each one!)

Like you I didn't get my bfp until 15-16dpo with my ectopic, and I got my first shadow of a line 9dpo in the evening and my BFP at 10dpo this time. Hoping that all is a good sign for me as it was for you!

Wishing you a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy!

Hi I had an ectopic in Nov 2010 was treated with methotrexate. I had a 3 month break began ttc again and god pg with Ollie. I was a wreck u even imagined shoulder pain of ectopic. I think you tend to over analyse every giggle when you gave had an EP but its a very low chance of having another.

I hope it all works out for you xxxx
