Just wondering how your experience was because my MW told me that September was going to be a really busy month for them and that there was a bit of a baby boom going on at the moment.

I am due soon have read too many stories (just generally whilst stupidly googling NOT specifically in Glasgow or recently by the way) about women who have given birth in a side room when the delivery suits/birthing centres have been full so I am starting to panic even more.

Thanks for any replies :)

I'll be watching this thread - I'm due in October, my mw said the same.
Really wanting one of those pools at PRM - bet they're gonna be mobbed.

Oh well... I can answer my own question here! I actually went into labour 6 days early and it was really, really fast so I gave birth on Friday night and was home by Monday.

The midwives were amazing. It is really busy there at the moment but there were no problems and I was treated really well during labour. Since it is my second, I actually ended up in my own room which was fantastic as we ended up in for 3 days for observation due to me having had Group B Strep.

All the best with the birthing pool - I hope you have a fantastic birth experience. I couldn't have had better care this time. Way better than my first birth!

Congratulations! And so reassuring to hear your experience was good. We the only weegies on this site?! Wishing mine would get moving - 37 weeks today and getting to that moany impatient stage.

Good luck with motherhood! X

Hello,
I gave birth on the 19th at the Southern General. They were brilliant ! Before, during and after birth.
The only thing is I requested an epidural and didn't get it as the anaesthetist wasn't available.

Hi guys, im due on dec 15th and due at the Southern as well. Do you know how many people are allowed in with you? Im hoping that I can my mum around as well as OH.

Not sure, I only had my hubby with me. There should be enough room for one more person I guess. There is a chair on the side of the room where we put all our stuff while hubby was standing holding my hand. There was 2 midwifes in the room during labor. You should ask at you next appointment.
Good luck with the birth ladies :flower:

I am due to give birth in the Princess Royal Maternity :) Hoping for a good experience to say the least. Think I'm being induced around 38 weeks due to mild preeclampsia.

xx

I'll let you know how I get on! My sisters had 2 sections at PRM (one emergency, one planned) in the last 18 months - she was pretty impressed. Thought staff were lovely.

Aww thanks Tampa. That would be lovely :)

I read somewhere else on the forum that you live near Bishopbriggs? I live in Coatbridge but lived in Bishopbriggs all my life and all my family are there. I am hoping to move back next year because I miss my wee hometown lol

xx

I love the Briggs! Just been here a few years but it's a great see place and so handy for the city centre too. :) x

My LO was born 1st August (so maybe a little long ago to count) but I was the only one in the whole ward

I was induced at the Southern in June and it was the worst wxerience of my
Life. I was left in a cold bath, my OH was sent home even although I progressed really quickly and he nearly missed the birth. I wasn't examined although insaid I needed to push. No pain relief . Baby went into distress, we both could've died as I haemorraged. Had to be rushed for Crash section and it turned out that I was in fact right and baby was born just in time vaginally on the operating theatre. It was incredibly traumatic. The induction midwives were awful and didn't listen to anything I was telling them, labour suite was better but it was already a risky:traumatic situation when I was transferred down.

I am in the process of an official complaint. I don't want to scare anyone but I also feel the care at SG needs to be improved. My neighbour gave birth a year ago and also had a similar experience

I was only in the ward with one other lovely lady after delivery

Omg. Wtf! U have freaked me out now :( I'm scared. X

Awww, I'm so sorry, please don't be scared, everyones birth and experience
Is different. The labour midwives were much more attentive and caring, it was my induction that made it so awful. Just be clear and firm with your wishes, make sure they know exactly how you feel and what you want if things aren't feeling right.

There is no need to be scared. I did read some bad review about the SG while I was pregnant which did scare me but as I said they were great. They did their best and the two midwifes were real nice during labour, very supportive.
The ward was reallly busy - apparently September is always a busy month - and all the other mums in the ward had a good labour so no worries :flower:

it was either the SG or the RAH hosp for me , and i really dont like the RAH so chose SG. i hope everything goes ok. this is my 1st baby and im scared enough as it is! the 2 times ive been to SG for my scans i have had no complaints and the midwifes were lovely. so heres hoping it continues :) x
