I may have to take this throughout my next pregnancy. It is a category c but the risk of me not taking anything out weigh the risk of taking it.

If you took it was everything ok with lo?
Was lo small?
Did they have breathing problems at birth?

Sorry no experience with that one. I took labetelol and procardia but my baby was fine at birth. Hope u get some answers

Thanks for replying.
Labetalol is a beta blocker too isn't it.
Did you take it all the way through your pregnancy?x

I took labetelol at 200mg twice a day all throughout pregnancy and my experience was:

LO was born small for him....he was born at 6lbs7 and on the 9th centile and at 6 weeks has crept up to between the 25th-50th centile so I do wonder if I hadn't been taking labetelol whether he would have been born bigger?

He was an emcs but I think that was down to forced induction whilst he was still cosy rather than the beta blocker!

Isabelle was born small for me at 6lb9, had to keep getting her blood sugar checked.

Im just worried about taking a beta blocker cause if anything did happen id never forgive myself and constantly blame the tablet x

I'd be interested to hear anyone else's stories too as my anxiety has got worse and doc has said I can go back on it but I'm still worried about taking it xx

Hi all, found this old post & was wondering if there was anyone out there that had to take propanolol throughout their pregnancy?
Seems I'll be on it for the duration of mine, currently 15 weeks pregnant with twins.
Thanks

BethHx....did you have to take this throughout ur pregnancy.....x

I took labetalol throughout my pregnancy and LO had low blood sugar at birth, but his size was fine and no breathing problems.

Hi Seaweed eater, thanks for your reply. As I'm really stressed over these meds for my overactive thyroid. I was on 30mg x 3 times per day, but has just been reduced to 20mg x3 times. I'm only on it about 3-4 weeks now, but looking like i'll be taking it for the remainder of my preg. Do you mind me asking what doses you were talking......delighted all was well with your little one x

I was on it for awhile before the dr pulled me off of it. I was on several other meds and the dr felt I could do without this one while pregnant.

My daughter was 6lb 15oz at 38weeks+4 (had to have c-section for medical reasons) and didn't have any troubles with jaundice or breathing at all.

My son was 8lb 4 1/4oz so considerably bigger ;)

EDIT: I was on 20mg 3x a day

Sorry only just seen this.
I didn't take it with Isabelle.
And am yet to get pregnant again yet. A recent meeting with my doctor is that i Will be switched to getlabetalol. However my other doctor is happy for me to be on propanolol.x
