Anyone that's been through court - timescale

My ex keeps saying things like 'go ahead with court, do you understand how long that will take?' And saying it'll be years until I see my little girl if I go through court.

Anyone that's been through court, how Long was it before access was granted?

It was 3 years before mine was out of court, and my LO was almost 2 before he saw him at all, but there was complications in our case, I'm not sure how fast straight forward ones go.

Thank you for the insight . That's what I'm scared of, I think ours is straight forward, but I wouldn't put it past her to make things look bad or different to slow things down or make herself look better for denying me access.

You can go to the court and ask for an emergency hearing. Go down to the court house tho.

It doesn't need to take years , you should be able to get some sort of visitation set up in a matter of months

If it works the same as over here then you should have a first hearing where they will make a temporary arrangement for visitation until the final decision is made.

depending on each individiual case depends on the timescale.

My ex is taking me to court over access, but he hasn't seen my son since he was 6 weeks old (his choice) and has 6 criminal convictions for assault and anger related violence. Therefore my case can take anything from 1-5 years for anything to be established because before he gets any contact he will have to prove to the courts, social services and myself that he can be a responsible, calm father.
