Lola is just refusing feeds and it's taking upto 1-1.5 hours to feed and I really feel like I'm force feeding her as she clearly doesn't want it but would only take 2oz if I didn't persist, she's currently (and always has been) on sma and was thinking about hipp organic as she is a reflux baby and I've heard this can help.but I've heard it doesn't mix well if water is not boiling and Lola likes room temp bottles, has anyone had any trouble with this? Is it the same as all the other formula or shall I just change to aptimil and see if that works? Thanks ladies xx

We used it when we first started combi feeding. I always mixed it with a bit of boiling and then cold water to top up. You can keep a lidded jug of cooled boiled water in the fridge to make up bottles. It was e only formula teddy would go for for ages.

I've just changed to HIPP from SMA for the same reason as you. So far less reflux but more dirty nappies and she's drinking less. Still early days though: it's been 3 days since we switched.

Go for it! We love hip! No reflux (which he had on any other formula) and poo every day!

Tbh I found with reflux with aptamil and aptamil comfort his reflux was bad IMO unless the reflux is linked to a CMPI and you are changing to an elemental formula then its pointless. I just think the reflux is still going to be there regardless of formula i know sma staydown works for some as its thicker but otherwise i would just stick with what your using and try and get medication sorted out.

Yes! Just changed Summer from Sma staydown to Hipp, for exactly the same reasons as you. She loves Hipp and no more fussing. She has reflux too, but seems ok on it so far.

Thanks ladies, she's already on renitidine and since we got the dosage up she's been alot better.she's not crying in pain or screaming during a feed at all now, just flat out refusing the bottle.....for an experiment I'm just trying a carton of sma as she used to love the pre made bottles and she's had 5oz in 5 mins, would the flavour or texture b THAT different with a ready made carton? Xx

Changed Freya from Aptamil to HiPP 4 weeks ago due to fussing, bad wind and only taking small amounts. She's much better on it - taking 5-6oz every feed (was 2-3oz), much less wind and much better poos xx

I've read about this quite a lot on here babies that prefer cartons or wont drink cartons etc I think the cartons are quite a bit creamier consistency.

If it works and she drinks it though she must think theres some difference lol Maybe keep her on the ready made, expensive taste! :haha:

Well she had 8oz in 20mins and it was easy lol dunno how I'm gonna get the money together to go from £9 a week per tin to £22 a week for cartons tho  xx

We tried every formula out there when we switch from BF. My LO hated SMA and became quite mardy after drinking just 1oz and was sick loads. He had severe reflux and we found he was the best on Hipp. He also is quite partial to a carton - if you taste them they have that same kind of taste like that UHT boxed milk you can buy for adults. Tastes a bit creamier like someone else said.
I would definitely give Hipp a try.

We used to use ranatidine but found it didn't help and eventually ended up on a combo of Domperidone (which LO took with far less fuss) and Gaviscon.

We've used Hipp since lo was a couple of weeks, she is 1 tomorrow so just switching over to cows milk. Can't say how it compares to other but she has always loved it.
Could you try mixing a carton with some made up powder and gradually reduce the carton milk, thats what I've been told to do with cows milk and it seems to work.

i tried my lo with hipp for reflux. he loved the cartons, it was an expensive few weeks lol. he also had carobel mixed in his bottles and was on ranitidine. his reflux was under control with this combination but he still had awful wind. i ended up putting him on sma staydown and stopped the ranitidine. he as come on leaps and bounds on the staydown along side weaning.

i recently tried him back on the hipp organic powder thinkin he'd be fine now but he wouldn't drink it x

You can by the tin (well its 2 bags) and use the powder. I use the optimal tin for storage....

Hi ladies

This is interesting. My LO has silent reflux - she has been on the meds since Tues but no major difference as yet. I had heard somewhere that the HIPP was good
someone in my baby massage said they changed aptamil due to same reasons and their baby took to it better - umm maybe will try changing ?

x
