hubby called on way from work and insists that I try eating something super spicy...I told him Im allergic to spicy foods so that would just make me miserable and he says exactly..maybe it will make you soo miserable she'll come out..so..I told him to stop by Taco Bell on his way home and get me two crunchwrap supremes with the fire sauce...so....we'll see if it works lol..and if it does I'll NEVER hear the end of it lol lol..

so just wondering if you did try it what did you eat and did it work...and if it did how long till it kicked in?

yes i tried spicy food (and I can't stand spicy foods!) and no it didn't work. I tried eating fresh pineapple, walking (in all sorts of different ways, like one way was to walk with one leg on the curb and the other on the street so you look really silly, but I was desperate!), was already taking evening primrose (but that was more for conditioning the uterus), sex, and everything else I had heard of.

The only thing I DIDN'T try was nipple stimulation and any medications (like castor oil and ex-lax).

Oddly enough I finally went into labor a week late after I was eating homemade chicken soup and watching a Criminal Minds marathon and sitting on the couch. Go figure!

Good luck to you, and maybe it will work better for you! :)

I tried spicy foods a little bit and nothing happened. What DID work for me was DTD.

I did try but nothing, but then again i LOVE spicy foods so it was worth it regardless :haha:

Yes, I tried everything and nothing worked. I don't think anything works unless youre really close to being ready

I tried vindaloo, driving over bumpy roads, pineapple, dtd, walking miles and miles,bouncing....nothing worked, this baby wanted to stay put no matter what, even induction didn't work,I was ready to smoke her out :haha: xx

I tried spicy food, hot baths, pineapple, long walks, sex - and still had to be induced when I was 12 days overdue!

They are all old wives' tales - some people swear they work, but they can't honestly say that LO wouldn't have arrived anyway!

HAHA no!! I had a curry and it just gave me an upset tummy and baby still hung on a week. Honestly I tried everything, the only thing that worked for me was reflexology, but I was 8 days over and I can't be sure that baby didn't just decide to come that day rather than it being the reflexology. I hate to say it as every time someone said it to me I wanted to kill them - but baby really will just come when it's ready to come out! xx

They're all old wives tales, some people say it worked but if they were overdue who's to say they wouldn't have gone into labour anyway? Scientific research has found no evidence it works, so I wouldn't put yourself through it if it will be you feel miserable.

Also, don't worry about rushing baby along, these are the last few worry free days where you can do what you want and get some sleep lol. Believe me when baby arrives you'll wish for another couple of days being pregnant ;)

For me personally it did work; but it wasn't super hot spicy food but more rich curries with lots of aromatic spices, and it worked with all of mine, my eldest was three weeks early and I'd had spicy chinese food the night before (I didn't do this intentionally thinking it would make me go into labour), With second eldest I was two weeks overdue and tried everything else and was due to be induced-I had been stuck at 3cm dilated for over a week and had had a sweep that failed, but a few hours after having a large Indian meal I went into very quick labour. Thought the first two times may have been co-incidence so with second youngest I ate the same stuff as before the day before my due date, I was carrying very high and he showed no signs of coming anytime soon-he physically engaged himself as I was eating the food, my husband was freaked out and the next day I had him after a very quick labour. Again this time I got the same type of foods at 38+ weeks as I was feeling very huge and uncomfortable and had been getting electric shock feelings; because my son was in an odd position and I went into labour the next day again, my contractions were irregular and kept tailing off so OH brought me more of the same food and by 11pm that night I was in hospital ready to have my baby (he was born at 3.47am) xx

I didn't try the curry thing but I swear by raspberry leaf tea. I know everyone says it doesn't bring on labour but try drinking 4 cups in a day and see the results.x

I have some and just might try that...its also a new moon tonight...and we have a big shopping trip...maybe the combo of all three will get something going lol..

I tried just about everything to get my LO out! I was so miserable the last week. I walked about 2 miles a day, tried to eat my self to death with pineapples and spicy food. Tried bouncy balls and dtd. Nothing was working, but the day I got to 39 weeks I was sitting in bed watching Buffy, LOL, and a thought came to me. I closed my eyes and Prayed that I would go into labor.. and guess what. Not even 5 minutes later I got my first contraction and had her 14 hours later!! LOL. :happydance:
Anyway point of this story it to let you know that even though you try everything you think that might get your LO out. Its not going to happen until its meant to!
I know its easier said than done, but try to relax and be patient. You will have your LO in your arms soon enough.

i tried every spicy food there is didnt work and i was a week overdue lol my husband is latin and im italian and we know our spicy food lol but everyone is diffrent i think its just luck to
