Hi I'm 41 just had first LO 4 months ago :cloud9: For a few months oh has been REAlly tired all the time and a bit distant . I was so caught up with being pg and then baby I didn't pay much heed tbh... Well he was brave ans went to doc today and had been diagnosed with depression . Doc wants to prescribe anti depressants for 6-9 months and we were told to go away discuss it and come back on Wednesday .

One issue I want to discuss is the effect anti depressants have on ttc as I have read some scary stuff re loss of ability to ejaculate and sperm quality. None of it is conclusive . I Really want to ttc again starting from now as I don't want LO to be an only child . Looking for anyone who has any experience , advice and/or opinions on this :) of course the first priority is getting oh fight fit again after all he has a son who needs him bundled with energy :haha: but outside of that I'd love to ttc soon.

Thanks guys

My husband has been on anti-anxiety meds for many years and he has super fantastic sperm both in number and quality. The biggest side effect that I've found with him on the meds is that it reduces his desire to have sex frequently. Everything still worked just fine, he just wasn't really craving it every other day like someone with a higher libido might. It did take us years to conceive the second time, but I have PCOS and my body wasn't cooperating.

Thanks so much for replying :) and congratulations on your pregnancy :) not long till v day !!! That's so reassuring ! I spoke with doc today also and she said just what you have that drive might be lower but she doesn't expect it to be effected as he is on the lowest dose . Also she said there in no conclusive evidence that meds effect sperm quality . Have been trials in animals that are inconclusive but none in humans . She advised if it did have an effect would be similar to smoking on sperm . So looks like we will be good to go when oh feeling a little better :)
