Anyone use the Tommee Tippee Micro Sterilizer?

I have the microwave one but it annoyed the hell out of me so i use it as a cold water one. I use the Tesco sterilising tablets as they are not as strong as milton and don't smell :) I don't rinse, i just removed from steriliser and make bottles up :)

I emailed Tommee Tippee to ask the same thing and to suggest they make a steriliser where you can open one side when you want it and keep the other side closed for longer, I think all it would need is some sort of dual lid flap and a seperater down the middle.

They emailled back to say that once the steriliser is opened you can store the bottles with the boiled and cooled water in the fridge (not the door but on the shelves) for up to 24 hours with minimal risk.

But if they come out with a dual flapped, middle seperated steriliser anytime soon you know who gave them the idea.

I sterilise 3 bottles for the night, make them up and take them to bed then during the day sterilise them all but just make up one so have to keep sterilising the bottles.

why not the door?

why not the door?

Because you open the door to your fridge often so anything which can be affected by temperature change should be stored at the back of the fridge on the shelves where the temperature remains fairly constant (unless you leave the door open for a long time.)

This would be brilliant!

Vici how did you use the tommee tippee sterilizing unit as a cold water sterilizer? Iv never seen anyone use the cold water sterilizing method before...do you need to submerge the bottles in cold water with the milton stuff?

how do you do this with the tommee tippee micro one as its not deep enough?!

gah! confused

You couldnt do it with the Tommee Tippee one because the bottles do need to be submerged fully, the cold water sterilisers are just like a plastic tub with a lid and a peice of plastic a little smaller than the tub that you put on top ot the bottles inside the tub to ensure everything is fully under the water (if that makes sense)

I used milton when BF cause I had such a small ammount of stuff to sterilise, just 1 bottle, dummies and pump and I found that it degraded the plastic really badly they all started to go yellow after a few weeks

oh...well iv just spent £15 on 6 new tommee tippee closer to nature bottles so if it did that i would be pretty p*ssed!! lol

hmm, i know ppl have been using milton for years but i just cant get my head around a chemical strong enough to antibacterialize something but not harm a new baby's system!?

We have this one,

What we do hun is make up the bottles we need and then store the sterilised bottles in the fridge with the lids on.... my oh thinking is that keeping them in the fridge is better as bacteria cant multiply so fast..... men! But i guess he has a point lol

You can use the TT microwave one as a cold water one, it is designed as use for both ways!

If you look in your tub, there is a line about an inch from the top - this is the 5litre line. I refill mine every morning. First I take out the 4 bottles I need to make mine up for the day and then empty the tub. I use the Tesco sterilising tablets (they don't smell as strong as Milton and are cheaper) and pop one in once i've put the fresh water in. They take a few mins to disolve. I then just add bottles to the steriliser as and when I use them. They are then all ready to take out in the morning when I make out up again. When I was using more bottles (I can fit 5 in at a time) I used to make them in the morning and at night so did the same, just didn't change the water at night (only needs doing every 24 hours).

O, and you take out the "cage" so its effectivly just a round tub x
