Apparently I have cyst on my left ovary which is the one that i ovulated from to have my current pregnancy. Anyone have this before? I belive my dr said it was small and didnt seem to concerned, she thinks it should go away on its own.

My dr told me that women get ovarian cysts all the time especially when they are pregnant and that in early pregnancy the baby feeds off of those cysts. If doc isn't worried I wouldn't be either love.

I had one at my 12wk scan hun and it had disappeared by my 20wk one lol :flower:

I had one and didn't know until it burst, I was about 5 weeks pregnant at the time and it cause a little bleeding, hence how I found out.
It caused me a little pain, they thought it was an ectopic pregnancy...but it caused no problems at all :)

I have one too that showed on my first ultrasound. The u/s tech called it a "functional cyst". I have read that most of the time they go away in 8-12 weeks. Wouldnt worry unless you are having alot of pain with it!

I had quite a large one show up on an ultrasound about 7 weeks... it was gone by 12 weeks.

i had two large ones early on and was told they are compltely normal xx

every pregnant women a cyst when there pregnant. Its on the side we release the egg from and feeds the pregnancy in till the placenta takes over which is around 8 and 12 weeks. Sometimes these cysts grow big and some bleed. These are the ones the doctors watch and can cause problems. But generally its normal

i have, on my right ovary , 10cm by 9cm , so a BIG one, i was 6 weeks pg when they found it, at around 13weeks they wanted to remove it,even tho i was preg, i was booked in 2 weeks later to be operated on (15weeks), i came in had another scan (around 5th one at that point ) and noticed it had gone to 7cm by 4.5cm, so started shrinking , but gave me option of operating because of this, consultant said he would still do it as they tend to anything bigger than 4cm is LARGE , was my choice as even tho still big was shrinking, i opted to leave for a few weeks, had another scan 4 weeks later was 4cm , by 4cm, now they can even see it, (37weeks) could be there but baby large and in the way but belive it has gone, will have another scan after birth , if its there then ill get it removed if not and gone its self :)

I had a very large ovarian cyst (I have a looped bowel due to previous bodged surgery for something else and it had grown through it so they didn't see it all on the scan) mine was 10 cm x 9 x 7 (I think it was in 2009 and so much has happened since I can't remember exactly but it was huge cause they never measured it all). Mine did not go after pregnancy. I had problems in the pregnancy BUT was told that it was NOT due to the cyst. My consultants plan was to leave it unless it caused problems to bubs and operate after.

I had to have mine taken out by op - they got 1 1/2 liters PLUS of fluid from in, they thought from what they saw it was old and had been there a long time. I had it taken out by key hole surgery - even with the additional problems with my bowel the surgery was sucessful and the recovery was AMAZING (compared to myc section). The recovery time was brilliant - I couldn't believe how much so.

So if anyone has a large one that does not go away and does need surgery - please don't panic, from my experience it was a very simple op (and I am a huge chicken - hate GA and hospitals!!!).

BUT most cysts do go away and as said about they are functional and very common.

I've bumped a post I had up on this subject for your information.

If it is small then you should be okay - it's the big ones that concern the doctors.
