Hi Girls,

Here is my story, would really love if anyone has advice or has had similar experience?

I fell pregnant in February 2010 on the first month trying, unfortunately this ended in a Miscarriage (blighted ovum) at 9 weeks. I had a D&C in and as I had fallen pregnant so quickly the first time I assumed the same would happen again, however nearly two years later we are still trying without any success. I always had very light periods (if you could call them periods) they are usually just a brownish discharge, extremely light that lasts for anything up to 8 days, I do think this has got lighter since the miscarriage, there is rarely actually blood just this discharge. This is always regular, about every 27/28 days. I use OPK's most months and always get a positive so am assuming that I am ovulating but the brown discharge usually starts on day 11/12 post ovulation.

I had blood tests done in July 2010 and these were the results:

These are the day 3:
Free T4 – 15 pmol/L
TSH – 1.22 mU/L
LH – 3.0 IU/L
FSH – 5.3 IU/L
Oestradiol – 220 pmol/L

And Day 21 Progesterone was about 56

I did have a scan in July 2011 on 2dpo and was told that I had lots of eggs and ovaries looked good. My lining was only 6.6mm though.

Thanks,
Lxx

Your estradiol is far too low. Its the estradiol that builds the lining of the womb. Your progesterone isn't bad but could be a bit higher.

You don't have the estradiol to build your lining and that's a contributing factor as to why your periods are so light. Mine have also been light and I do get brownish colour too. I have endo and a blocked tube (possibly cause by endo). However, with the drugs I'm on, the higher my progesterone rises, the better my period.x

I'm sorry for your miscarriage.

I don't have ashermans (ie no scarring visible on hystersocopy) but I do have a thin, unresponsive lining.

In sharp contrast to Cooch's post above my Dr would consider your day 3 estrogen result as just fine tbh - a high Cd3 estrogen result is linked to diminished ovarian reserve.

It might be worth checking your estrogen levels close to O to see if low estrogen is affecting your lining, but if you O it's almost certainly all fine.

Measuring the lining post O isn't quite as accurate/as useful as measuring it pre O tbh, but in any case 6.6mm is not considered a major problem for natural conception. It's considered thin for IVF but not naturally.

Ashermans sufferers typically have a lining of 4mm or less from what i've read. AF wise, your sound light but then they are lasting for up to 8 days, the brown-ness is indicative of the slow release of your menstrual fluid. In comparison mine last 2 days at most, but is preceeded by a week plus of brown discharge.

Sorry didn't read it as day3. I was reading your estradiol levels and thinking day21 x

Thanks a mill for your reply hun, why the hell didn't the consultant tell me that, he said all were fine. Is there anything I can take to improve this and what should it be??

Sorry girls, didn't see the last two replies before I responded. do ye have any suggestions for improving AF? Have tried accupuncture but didn't work although didn't have enough of them together.!

Jessie, I honestly don't and wish that I did. Initially i was thrilled with my lighter periods, now i just want them 'normal'!.

I've tried acupuncture too, diet changes, supplements etc and for me it's not made a jot of difference.
TBH I don't think your lining is horribly thin and yours may be improved by a little estrogen supplementation in the first half of your cycle - I would ask your Dr directly about your lining thickness and if it's a concern....I know my Dr would consider around 7mm ok for a natural cycle :)

All I can say is what I'm on. I started seeing a Napro doc and have since had prescribed meds and a laparoscopy. Since then my bloods now seem to be great and in the range the Napro doc wants. BTW, he doesn't make any money from my lap or from the meds, he only costs 200 euros for a consultation and I've had 2 of those. He recommends I stay clear of dairy, wheat, sugar, alcohol as these all help with endometriosis. However, I've not been that strict with things. It'll be difficult for me to get BFP with 1 open tube and one blocked tube. But, if my bloods are great, then it can still happen.
