I am not normally a media sucker, I take what is on the news with a pinch of salt since i believe a lot of it is exagerated and sensationalism, on the other hand this swine flu outbreak is actually starting to bother me. I am due my FET in next few weeks and I am getting a bit worried. Now I would not even think about not going ahead since time is of the essence for us to get pregnant, we have waited long enough, BUT I am just starting to think isn't it bloody typical that this happens NOW! I have had flu twice, pretty badly in the last 20 years so i am hoping by chance I have some sort of resistance since many people have never even had it once!

Is anyone else bothered by the potentially serious outbreak, or do you think it will just blow over? I know its mainly mild symptoms in most people but it still kinda hangs over my head.........SIGH...........

I work within a doctors surgery and was worried about TTC with the scare of Swine Flu, and being in the surgery! I spoke to one of the doctors the other day about this and she said that, even though I am at an increased risk of getting it (charming) she doesnt think that would be a reason to stop TTC. She said the vacenation will be available in Sept to everyone (apart from ladies in the first tri), and if I was in the first tri of pregnancy they would look at putting me in the back corridor (out of the way).

I do think a lot on the news is there to scare people more then neccessary, and providing you wash hands regularly, use a tissue and then bin it etc etc, to keep risk at the minimum then TTC shouldn't be stopped.

Plus once this is over there will always be something else!!!

Good luck with your ICSI, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I'm not concerned by it at all ... If I get it I get it.

I think it's fairly unlikely I should catch it though (she says probably jinxing herself). I work with mostly elderly people, who all get their flu jabs, and will most likely get the swine flu jab, and when I'm not in work I don't tend to go into crowds anyhow.

Like Ald says, if it's not swine flu, it'll be something else anyway.

Good luck for your FET ...

Thanks girls, yeah i agree there will always be something, though i wish the media would stop blowing it all out of proportion, they always add about 80% extra to every story!! Good luck on your journeys too XX

sort of... but then I've been at this for nearly 10 years, so I dont wanna put it on hold really...
