Anyones lo have diarrhoea on aptamil comfort?

Hey ladies,

I wonder if anyone's lo's are currently on aptamil comfort milk and are experiencing diarrhoea?

My dd is just over 6 weeks and for the past 12 days has been on aptamil comfort after we switched her from SMA gold. We were having issues with her bringing up her milk though I don't think it was reflux or anything. Anyway she used to poo every other day which the hv said was perfectly normal for a bottlefed baby. But from yesterday starting yesterday morning she has had a poo at every feed, sometimes inbetween too. But the thing is is that it's like diarrhoea, it's yellow and watery. There isn't always lots of it but since yesterday there's barely been a nappy that was just wet.

Ive been told the comfort milk can take a couple of weeks to kick in and it does state its for constipated babies (which she never has been), so I'm wondering if this is a normal thing or do I need to get her to a dr or change her milk to the regular milk? She's absolutley fine in herself.

Ive been over in the formula feeding forum but there's never anyone viewing so I end up waiting forever for anyone to see my post. Hope you don't mind me posting here, i just really need to know if anyone else has had this?

I can't offer any advice I'm afraid but my LO is on Aptamil Comfort (since 3 weeks old, now 7 months). The only time she had a problem was about a month ago when she had really explosive, mucousy poos (the type that go up the back and cover clothes!). I think she had 9 or 10 in a day. Lots of washing involved! It only lasted a couple of days but I thought it was to do with teething & weaning.

I might be a bit concerned about a 6 week old baby getting dehydrated if she is having watery poos. I suppose it's hard to tell if the nappy is wet from wee or from poo at the moment. One of the ways to tell if your baby is hydrated is that she is still having wet nappies. It might be worth ringing the health visitor to ask for advice. If they're anything like mine though you'll struggle to get anyone on a Friday night! Maybe NHS Direct? I wouldn't change her formula without talking to someone though in case it upsets her tummy even more. Maybe offer her cooled boiled water to drink as well as the formula? I'm sorry I'm not much help! It's just what I would do.

I might try the cooked boiled water just to be certain she's not getting dehydrated. I've had a couple of nappies where I know they were just wet from wee but more often than not its watery yellow poo. I've lost count of the amount of nappies I'm doing a day ATM.

Think I need to get hold of the hv!
