We're about 10 and a half months through our breastfeeding experience, the LO and I. :) This is the farthest I've ever made it, :happydance:and I intend to go as long as she will. Since it IS the farthest I've been before, and since it has been a while since any of those newly nursing issues I thought I'd ask if there are any other unforseen curves in the road that seem to come naturally as the baby gets older, or is it mostly smooth sailing from here on out?

Also, any tips on sustaining nursing past 12 months are welcome. MyLinda is eating other foods through the day, but still nurses more than any of that. I know this won't last forever, so I am still a little fearful that she'll suddenly eat solids more often and my milk will dry up. (Probably silly at this point, but still.) Give me as much advice as you can. Consider me a sponge! :flower:

I'm having some issues with my daughter suddenly preferring solids to nursing during the day and it's taking a bit of a toll on my milk supply. I've tried offering the breast more, but she really loves to try her foods. I just feel like I have to trust that she'll let me know when she wants to nurse, which is maybe 3-4 times during the day right now.

Maddie nurses 4 times a day now - dropped quite quickly in the last couple of months as the solids increased. She has 3 meals a day and a few snacks in between. T

he main issue we've had is my letdown seems to take ages?? Sometimes she gets really frustrated and upset... I've taken to showering before I feed her and also lettting her play with my hair (I let it out of the band) to distract her whilst we wait! x

MyLinda was nursing a little less - it took her a while to work up on solids. Other than bits of what we're having, she only eats 'baby food' two-ish, sometimes three times a day. For a bit there it was definitely three, but then these last few days she's gone back to nursing more. By yesterday she was nursing every 30-1h, and then she slept for 13 hours. I'm guessing she's about to shoot up on me, since that was her pattern for other growth spurts.

Maybe it isn't the norm or even smart, but I'm so jealous of our nursing together that I want her to prefer it as long as possible. I know I've got a rude awakening coming, but the longer I can delay that the better. We did introduce her to solids at 6 mo, but she wasn't interested. At 7 mo you could barely get her to try a fruit (unless it was a real fruit in one of those mesh bags). Month 8 and especially 9 she would eat a few bites for lunch but was still avidly refusing meats and cereals. Orange veggies seemed her choice. Two weeks ago as we hit month ten she became (for her) voracious, and then like I said, the last few days went back to more nursing. I've never been this far before, so it is all new to us. I read about nursing strikes and oh, I dread the thought!
