Hi everyone

Just after any advice is possible?

I applied for a primary school place out of our catchment area due to it being closest to my parents house who when I'm at work will be taking and collecting my Daughter from school, she already attends the nursery there and has obviously made some good friends and built up lots of confidence and has really developed over the last few months.

I knew we wouldn't get offered as her first choice school (we are on the waiting list) so we were offered the 2nd choice but I'm going to have major childcare issues with this.

I work till 6pm 3 days a week, I have no-one to collect my Daughter (My Mam no longer drives) and Husband works late aswell, I prepared my Daughter few months ago saying she might have to go to a different school and since then she's been waking up crying saying she will miss her friends and doesn't want to go to a new school, I can only settle her with having her in my bed giving her a cuddle.

I'm am going to appeal and I'm just wanting to gather as much information/advice as I can. I'm so worried that if the appeal falls through I'll have to contemplate giving up my job, we cannot afford after school childcare as that's why she would be going to her grandparents house, I also have a baby who will be looked after by my Mam so I really don't know how they can expect me to take baby to my Mams drop my Daughter at school and be at work for 9am.

It's all really stressing me out, I know that it's 5 months away and she could still get offered a place if someone drops out but I'm besides myself with worry.

Thanks in advance xx

Sorry I didn't want to ignore. My OH's cousin had to appeal last year for similar reasons. She desparately needed a space at the school close to her parents house as she is at work for school drop off and pick up, her father doesn't drive so would have to catch 2 buses to drop off and collect LO from the school she was accepted to. She wasn't successful in her appeal though because the preferred school was already fully subscribed, she didn't meet the criteria and had to change her work hours quite drastically because of it!
I hope it doesn't come to that for you. I think the appeal process is pretty straight forward but the outcome isn't guaranteed. Good luck. X
