I had heard that apple juice will cause a positive result on hpts, and I wanted to see if it was true!

I tried it on a Walmart $0.88 cheapie, a FRER, and an Equate blue dye test. I used Walmart brand apple juice.

Results:
Walmart cheapie- positive!
FRER- negative, slight evap
Equate- blaring positive!

This is so interesting to me, I wonder what causes the apple juice to show positive?

I also tried it with cola and dish detergent (other things I've heard can cause false positives), and got negatives on all of them.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this would work? I wonder if drinking a lot of apple juice would cause a false positive, too.

That's crazy! I didn't know that could happen!

How strange lol

i didnt know either, but its good that you experimented with it, :) how bizarre

I wonder if anyone's willing to try drinking a lot of Apple juice and see if it comes out positive and they are in fact not pregnant?

Haha I bought a big jug of juice to do the experiments with, and I drank most of it within two days. Still :bfn: ;)

How strange! I tried it with diet coke and a IC and got a positive strait away and my partner nearly had a heart attack (it was when my first son was a few months old)

hmmm, the acid must interfere with the antibodies in the strip. Interesting.
