anyone tried this? does it help loads? my LO has reflux quite bad since about 4 weeks old (shes now 12 weeks) we are currently mixed feeding breast and aptamil stage 1 but i would like to change to aptamil anti reflux as this is getting a bit ridiculous changing her clothes every 5 minutes! anyway has anyone had any positive experiences with this? or negative? does it make babies constipated? can i use it alongside breastfeeding? and also i have tommee tippee closer to nature bottles with vari flow teat would i have to get a completely new set of bottles with fast flow teats?? thanks x

Heya.

You wouldnt have to get new bottles, just fast flow teats to put on them.
I have heard that aptamil/cow and gate anti-reflux does commonly cause constipation, and the consistancy of the milk has been described as being like a thick milkshake, so its no wonder!
Have you considered SMA Staydown? Its been around longer than Aptamil anti-reflux and thickens in the stomach rather than in the bottle, so your vari-flow teats should work ok with the Staydown milk.
Any milk with thickeners in will possible cause constipation. If your lo does suffer from it then 1oz cooled boiled water once or twice a day should help. xxx

Is your LO on gaviscon? My LO also has silent reflux and I am not sure the two can be mixed.

Ah ok. My LO has been on gaviscon for 5 weeks almost and although her poos are more solid shes not constipated...she does have a 'poo face' though.

Let me know how you find the anti reflux as if that works better than the IG i may consider trying it, but for the while shes ok on the gaviscon.

I like aptimal anti reflux better than SMA anti reflux. Or do you have Novalac anti relux where you live? That is better than both of them.

Our LO was sicking up all the time on normal aptimal

Now she's on aptimal for colic and constipation... Works great. Is thicker so using a variflow teat is best that way it doesn't clog the teat nor will ur bub get too much milk flow as they're in control.

Warning tho... Their poop is smellier... Very much smellier lol!

I would highly recommend Enfamil AR, it thickens in the stomach instead of in the bottle so no need for faster teats  Has worked wonders for my son and you can get it on prescription too!

No need to change teats variflow are perfect for this formula, it's exactly what we are using for a little over a week now after changing from Novalac reflux and my baby is sooo much better! Also poos are runnier so def no constipation! Really hope this formula works for you as well as it's worked for us! Xx
