Ive been giving my 2 week old baby boy the BLUE aptamil cartons of milk but when popping to the shops to stock up, they didn't have anymore blue ones so we bought the PURPLE cartons for HUNGRIER BABIES.
My little boy IS always hungry and has on average 4 ozs every 3 hours sometimes a tad more.
My question is; is it ok to give him the HUNGRIER BABIES cartons or do you think it'll give him an upset stomach?

It can constipate younger babies .... try giving him 5oz instead of 4 ...how old is he ?

we gave maddi hungry baby from about 4 weeks as she was a hungry baby, but i would probably recommend the powder tubs of formula, as maddi often found the ready made quite rich on her tum x

i didnt put zane on hungery baby till he was 4 weeks as it can cause problems such as constipation, zane was fine on it. but he was only put on it when zane refused to take more the 4 oz at a time n he was crying for food every hour day and night:(

id try giving extra oz per feed first and see how he is on that because 4oz every 3 hours is pretty normal, also id use the powder too, works out much cheaper and is far nicer on their tummys

Is the powder better than the cartons then? im giving him cartons as the mw said theyre better in terms of them being more sterile, especially for the first month.

Yeah the cartons are sterile, powder isn't, and you have to make it up with hot water to kill the bacteria (can contain salmonella and another one that can cause meningitis). So you have to be soooo careful making it up.
Ruby has never had powder. We intended to move to it after 6 weeks for cost reasons but never bothered in the end.

ive had no problem using the powder and its easy to make up all u have to do is boil the kettle leave it for around 30 mins so the water shud be perfect temp and then add water and then powder to the bottle.

my mw or hv never told me to use the ready made milk so this is news to me lol but again with using the ready made milk i dont really trust things that can just be left sitting on a self for ages, i trust the powder more

i have used the hungry baby milk with mine before they were 4 weeks old and never had any problems!!

I spoke to my HV yesterday as I was thinking of putting Ollie on to it. I was advised to up his feed and not use number 2 till he is around 4 months due to cvonstipation and tummy problems, which is odd considering it says from birth. He is better today though on an extra ounce, so I would try this first, take care :hugs: xx
