My babies have just gone on aptamil comfort and it keeps blocking the tommee tippee number 2 teats, so several times whilst feeding I have to suck the teat to unblock it, its so annoying!

Is anyone else having this trouble? Is there anything I can do to stop this happening xx

Comfort formula is thicker than the normal formula so i had to up a teat size. Aliyah was also drinking a little bit slower and sucking stronger though.
You could try that?
Are you mixing the formula well?x

You could try the veri flow teats, they are a cross cut rather then a hole and I find they dont clog as much.
If the milk is clogging though is it being mixed properly? I remember someone on here saying that aptimel clogs if made with water too hot where as with sma I find it cloggs if made with cold water.

Well i just upped them to size 2 teats a week or so ago. How annoying as i bought a load of number 2 teats, so now would need to buy the variflow!!

I tried Megan on a thicker formula when she was smaller to help w/ her reflux - Just when I was giving up on it someone told me a tip - to make up the bottle & then put it in the fridge. When you go back for it later & reshake it now goes through the bottle nipples but was still thicker in her tummy.

Its a total butt pain right?! I've been using it since week 2 and still get the odd block but can get it unblocked now. Best not to suck it yourself really but go up to a 3, kitty has coped with a 3 since 4 weeks due to the thickness, also you need to heat your water first and to a nice warm temp, THEN add the formula and watch the formula get eaten by the water before you shale for at least 15 seconds vigourously. Also I shake again a few times throughout and then roll the bottle to burst the bubbles, this has been fine and kitty is no longer a gassy little trumper!

It is worth it in the long run tho as it's helped us no end and remember it takes a good 2 weeks to start to really work.

If you still clog up then release the pressure by undoing the teet a little, tighten and shake whilst squeezing, this more often then not uncloggs, you'll see drips flying everywhere lol! If still blocked wash hands and squeeze the teet then do the step above again and if needs be pour boiling water over the feet the re-sterilise.

But mainly use a 3 to stop it all together! X

Katie is on cow & gate comfort on size 2 teats (Dr Browns) & I've never had a blockage touchwood (but a different brand I guess, how frustrating)...I do mix it with boiling hot water though or I find it clogs up at the bottom.

I have started on comfort too, and have gone up to size 2 teats. I haven't had any blockages yet hut its only been 2 days x x x

When my LO was on the comfort we had to buy some vari-flow teats (I remember reading on the tub it reccomended this, or on Aptamil's website - can't remember!) x

I only found NUK teats worked for comfort milk, the large feed hole was fine.
