or do toddlers ruin them?

i want to dress my LO in some nice expensive clothing from my fav store but i'm afraid ill be wasting the money if he's going to ruin them. he doesnt walk yet so his clothes have no trouble staying nice but when he walks i want him to have lots of fun playing around and not worry about damaging clothes.

but if toddlers dont really damage their clothes or get a lot of tough stains then im all for getting some expensive clothes

so what are your experiences with toddlers and clothes? what condition do they get in?

For me, expensive clothes aren't worth it. My LO runs, jumps, crawls & climbs over everything, so I just try to make sure she's comfortable. She still spills food at times & I'd hate for anything nice to get ruined. I usually save the fancy/expensive outfits for special occasions (but that's just me).

I get my toddlers Gymboree, a lot of people think they're expensive. I buy whole outfits+shoes+sunglasses/accessories. The clothes do not get stained or ruined, but I think it depends on your child and their age. What I like about Gymboree, is that you can change the sizes of the jeans to fit your child.

A lot of the clothes my child wears are designer clothes and they're not ruined. He runs and falls and rolls all over the place and they're still fine. I'll be keeping some for the next child if it's a boy or I'll sell them at a consignment shop. Personally, I think it's worth it. My LO always looks nice.

My lo always wears designer clothes and shoes there not wrecked.

I generally keep the expensive stuff for special occasions. But remember all is relevant to income, some people class anything other than supermarket clothes as expensive.

My DD wears designer/more expensive items, and I think you just have to accept that they're children! Sometimes she destroys them, but I dress her in everything all the time, no matter the cost. If she ruins it, so what? It's just clothing, what matters is that she enjoyed her time, I enjoyed watching her run around and have fun while dressed impeccably :)

I had bought Joshua some designer jeans. Sadly, they were absolutely wrecked within a short time. Yet all his cheaper jeans from Matalan are not.

I won't bother buying any more.

I personally don't buy anything expensive. Oliver lives in trackies and hoodies for school and then jeans and t-shirts at home. I buy all his clothes from H and M and primark.

He does have expensive outfits for special occasions but they are far a few between.

I always buy my toddler nice clothes, mainly next and hnm and I wouldn't class them too expensive, I was thinking about it last night how much I should cut down cause he barely gets wear out of some of them.

So I think expensive clothes should just be for special occasion rather than every day.

Oh he doesn't really ruin his clothes, when his eating I remove them.

I buy the odd piece of more expensive clothing as I know DD2 will be able to use it as well but mainly stick to cheaper supermarket clothing.

I wouldn't buy anything designer or expensive for Tom cos it would get stained or he would outgrow it before he's worn it lots.

But I don't buy designer clothes for me either.

My dd is 3 and I buy a lot of clothes for her, mainly Boden, Joules and Next. They dont get ruined or stained, if she's eating something particularly messy I'll pop a bib on her and if she gets food down her clothes, oh well, I'm just prompt to remove them and treat them with stain remover. Don't get me wrong, I don't stop dd having fun/playing outside etc but I have taught her to look after her clothes and be respectful of nice things. Plus more expensive clothes last longer imo, we have Boden tshirts here which are over a year old, washed and worn many times, still looking almost like new, no stains. Mil bought some tshirts for dd from Tesco, they shrunk and looked very faded after one wash - false economy to me! Good quality brands also have a good resale value xx

Nimahs clothes end up pitted, she drops food down them and the knees get worn out from crawling around the equiptment at the park.

Expensive stuff get saved for special events.

I'd probably buy the nicer stuff, if anyone let me. But I have so many hand me down clothes at this point I don't think I'll be buying stuff till she's in a 4T!

I don't see a problem with buying nice stuff. Just remember, they're babies still and they're going to make messes, tear things, splash in mud puddles and more. If, for even a second, you'd be telling your baby to be careful cause of clothes, put them in something cheap and let them explore the world.

How do you mean expensive? NEXT is expensive compared to primark but both my girls wear a mix and neither get ruined.

I buy my LOs clothes from Gap and Next, they last much longer than clothes he has had from Asda and Tesco so I don't see them as more expensive, just better quality and value as he can wear them for longer. He has an outdoor suit that he wears when he's in the garden and playing outside, it's been great for protecting his clothes from stains and rough and tumbles

Lucas only ruins his more expensive clothes/shoes, it's as if he knows
I know there's the whole quality argument but he gets quite a few designer hand-me-downs from his cousin and they're in no better/worse nick than anything else.

Ivy doesn't ruin her clothes really but I still manage to find lots of nice cheap-ish clothes so I don't see any reason to spend a fortune on outfits when she doesn't even care...however my mum is a lot wealthier than me and likes to buy her lots of Boden and Toby tiger and obviously I don't object :haha:
