are expensive clothes worth buying?

Depends what you think of as expensive I guess. I never buy my LO supermarket clothes I don't think they wash well- everything he has is from next gap or h&m which I think the prices are reasonable. He has the odd thing from Ralph Lauren. When looking at clothes I tend to look at the style rather than the price if its not practical I don't buy it- he's got a couple of plain white t shirts that have never been on him cos I know what would happen to them! Silly I know

I'm not much for labels, I just buy what I think it cute. LO has clothes from Wal-Mart all the way to D&G. I buy a lot of second hand clothing because you can find adorable stuff in great shape for cheap. I do save the nicer outfits for leaving the house. No sense in ruining a nice outfit playing in the backyard at home.

I buy lots of clothes for LO. If I like something then yes I will buy it and so it could be from a high store branch or a designer label. I dont think expensive generally means you will get more wear out of them. I have a girl so she gets to wear lots of different styles and materials, so some things are more delicate than others. All her clothes go in the wash after a days wear. Dinner times, the bib goes on. The rest of the time you just have to remember the things they do will be normal so if you would be holding LO back from doing something, save they ruined their clothes, then that would be unfair. If you really like something then go for it, but be open minded about the stuff your LO would be getting up to.

it's not so much that my kiddo ruins clothes, it's that she picks her own and usually doesn't actually want the ones I wish she would wear. I have a few nice things that I either made special for her or were gifts from her grandma that she just completely refuses to put on or takes off immediately. So I personally do not buy anything expensive.

My children have a range of clothes from supermarket cheap stuff to designer items. Both of mine run around outside etc and very few of their items are ever ruined. If I buy expensive clothes my only stipulation is that they are machine washable.

Personally I think good quality clothes are worth the money. I tend to find that cheap clothes need replacing more often so in the end I've spent as much over the course of the year on cheap stuff as I would in the expensive stuff and it didn't look as nice anyway. Esther wears dressed/skirts to play in too.

I suck at getting stains out so a lot of clothes get ruined quite quickly so i don't like to spend much on them.

Its depends on your child. I would say that for wear and tear that yes they do last longer, but then I have a bit of a clothes addiction and she doesn't wear the same thing twice in one week....so if your like that then yes as they will also be resealable if in good nick.

I prefer to buy stuff that's more on the pricey side and I think they are generally better value than cheaper clothes. If you consider how much they are worn and washed and stuff. My philosophy is spend lots but only on a few things, and don't buy stuff that's trendy or has iron-on transfers. My favourite kids brand is Petit Bateau, and I buy it new or second hand. I love the simple style, the quality and the fit.

I have half and half and I just plan ahead for whether the activities they will be doing might get them messy. I also have a box of "scruffs" at home to put on them when we eat messy stainy food or do painting etc. the scruffs are just clothes that have becomes too stained for normal wear for whatever reason. Usually old nursery stuff. I never put them in nice clothes for nursery cause they always get paint on them and things. Their nursery clothes are almost always from a charity shop.

Ihsan has a big mix of clothes everything from primark/supermarket to high street & designer. The thing I love about designer clothes is that most of them keep perfect shape and colour even after they have been washed dozens of times & once outgrown you can easily sell them on or give them to other kids in the family/ keep them for your next child & know they will still get plenty of wear out them. I don't put him in designer clothes to nursery, he comes out of there covered in all sorts! x

We have a range - supermarket to gap / next. Now bella's wearing clothes longer, I tend to buy more next than anything as I find they wash better & last longer & I know Lauren will wear them too. I have a few nice pieces from asda & sainsburys because they're bright & colourful.
xx

In my experience. I get some nice dear clothes and it goes through two of my kids and is ready for a third one even.
I buy cheap stuff and it dosnt even last to be passed down. I buy good coats and jeans, sometimes cheap tops as they grow so fast. But I do know if I get certain clothes they will last. I wouldnt like to spend loads on something and get one use out of it.

90% of Daisy's clothes and a lot of Tommy's are from Boden, which is quite pricey, but I always think it is false economy to buy cheap stuff. The stuff my two has lasts and lasts, washes well and even after a year of wearing it is almost as good as new. I don't sell mine on after they've finished with it but Boden has a fab resale value too.

When they've had cheap items it hasn't looked half as good after a few washes. My two don't ruin their clothes. They don't get stained as they put bibs on to eat or I remove pale coloured tops and dresses before having messy food and any grass/mud type stains I treat with stain remover before washing. Daisy always wears her Boden stuff for pre-school too and nothing has been spoilt. All paint etc stains have come out after a wash or two.

99% of rellas stuff is from next. I find it really good value for money and the stuff lasts.

Mainly I buy him cheaper clothes, things like vests aren't seen and are just under clothes. Because he isn't growing as fast I tend to buy him more expensive things now because they last a lot longer. Most of his clothes are still in good condition, the odd top has a stain etc on it. I usually dress him for the occassion, if I know he is painting I will put a less expensive outfit on him, but if he is visiting someone I'll put a nice outfit on him.
I think it depends on the kid, some like to throw themself around in the dirt, others don't!

I get some things from gap but mostly m&s, I'm a mid price clothing buyer I guess! There has never been a stain that vanish hasn't got rid of in my experience.

My son has cheap clothes for play, his favourite place is the mud pit at nursery, so he usually comes home covered from head to toe in mud. Doesn't bother me, that's little boys but I don't send him in nice clothes, that would be mad!
I would never buy designer labels, I'm not into them myself. Most of the kids vests, PJ's, babygros etc are from Marks and Spencer or Mothercare, they have a few smart outfits from Next but almost all the day to day stuff is from Supermarkets usually. I find it lasts just as well as Next stuff.

Tbh I've found the only clothes that survive the test of time and the washing machine are Next. I will spend more money in there on their goods for stuff like jackets.

Also they are used by both girls so we get our money's worth

I find Sainsburys not to bad either though

Alex tends to not get as messy as Tori too. She doesn't manage to stain much, Tori does, so it depends on the child too

It might just be me but the stitching on Next stuff really bothers me! Going OT but Lucas has loads of t-shirts from there and all of the hems are stitched backwards which looks so tatty imo! It's not like they fall apart but it just seems like it is done in a rush or to save time and it winds me up, especially when they curl after washing :dohh:

I buy a mixture of clothes from next, gap, asda, m&s, boden, tesco, primark, monsoon, debenhams. Basically if I like the look of it I will buy it, I would never limit myself to particular store. I do shop around though and buy in advance a lot so rarely pay full price for anything.
