Silly question you might think! But what I mean is right at the start of the latent phase, do they always hurt straight away or can they feel more uncomfortable, like braxton hicks?
I've been having irregular, uncomfortable, braxton hicks type contractions for the last few hours, together with lower backache and period type pains. Not in a lot of pain, just mild but really uncomfortable!
I don't want to 'symptom spot' but just wondered if this sounded like itcould be the start of something? Thanks in advance ladies.

with my first i was in early labour for 2 weeks and the irregular contractions didnt hurt, they were like uve said uncomfortable. but when real early labour kicks in contractions hurt pretty much from the start

Thanks. I think I might be in the latent phase, I heard that this could last for several days or weeks so i think that's what's happening, my body's just getting ready maybe!

hopefuly this is the start of something and baby doesnt make u wait too long.

are u getting very sharp pains in ur cervix and pressure in ur bum? if so that means baby is engaging which is a good sign that babies getting ready

ive had these sharp cervix pains for weeks...still waiting :(

Not sharp pains inky cervix but alot of pressure both low down at front and in bum! Feels like I'm constipated but I had diarrhoea last night and this morning so I know I can't be!

i had them for ages too, but its just a good sign that baby is getting into a good position which obviously helps when baby is ready to get a move on

with both my boys when they were getting engaged it felt like they were going to fall out my ass to put it nicely lol

i found baths helped with the early labour waiting around phase, relax as much as u can and if u have a birthing ball just sit on it to help baby get down and into a great position

Thanks so much for the advice. I'm on my birthing ball right now! I will go to bed in a minute I think and hope I'll be able to sleep

after my first his labour stuck in my head for along time but i only had corey 6 weeks ago and his birth was easy ive practicaly forgotten eveything lol but if i can help ile try.

i no its easier said then done but really just try to relax. afew hours before corey was born i was in the bath and i just had a talk to myself haha and felt so relaxed and ready to wait for corey to come and them 3 hours later i was in labour lol

My early contractions didn't hurt with my first. Even when they started getting stronger, they weren't really painful. I hit transition before I realized I should go to the hospital! With my second, pretty much all of the contractions hurt. And this time around I'm already having a few painful ones.

Sounds promising to me though! Good luck!
