Hi all,

My DS is almost 8 months and is intolerant to cows milk. Dairy free weaning has been fine so far, but I recently bought him some soya based yoghurts to give as a dessert. Are these ok for babies? I keep reading conflicting things about soy milk, but I'm thinking as it's not for drinking it's ok?

Going to stalk this as my LO got diagnosed with CMPI today. Not sure if this helps but the paediatrician said to me today that my LO will need to change her formula when 6 months old from nutramigen lipil 1 to nutramigen lipil 2 or soy formula. He did say 10% will not get on with soy formula so we may just want to stick with nutramigen lipil 2. On this basis I would probably say (but really have no idea!) that soya yoghurts may be ok but if your LO is in that 10% then it may not be ok - however I may be talking rubbish. Hopefully you might get more replies that will help!

I'm sure soy products are not recommended before 12/18 months because of the level of some chemical in them.

I would just ask your doctor, there's a lot of misinformation out there regarding soy products.
