Are these what contractions feel like?

Okay, so if any of you have read my other post. I went into the doctor's office today and learned I had lost my mucus plug, am 1 cm dilated and then was sent to the hospital for monitoring and was 30% effaced. I also had to get steroid shot for the lung development and go back for another NST and shot tomorrow. With that being said, here is my questions/new situation that has arisen.

I have had what I thought were BH contractions for a while now when I walk and my stomach would get real hard all over and I'd have to stop for a minute to let them pass. Those would last maybe 30-60 second.

Anyhow, tonight, after all this drama and being poked and prodded and an internal exam, I am lying in bed and the last hour or so I am feeling my lower stomach get very hard. But my upper uterine area doesn't feel like it has hardened much? When this happens it is very noticeable and I get a bit breathless. It isn't 'painful' for the most part, but I do get slightly painful twinges kind of on the sides where my pelvic bone is and in the middle deep down where I would think my cervix is (that one isn't always present).

I'm getting some pain in my hips too, but I have had that for a long while anyhow. I just don't know how to differentiate normal stuff from contractions or if it's possible to just get them in the lower tummy (it also goes all the way around to where my hips are). Could it just be the baby in a super weird position?

I really hope I am explaining this well enough. There's another one....

Anyone have any advice or experience with this? Anything is helpful. I am just a bag full of worries right now too.

Hmmm...hard to say as everyone feels things differently. For me contractions were unmistakable...def painful altho bearable at the start. Sounds like u could bein prodomal labour but my advice would be to go back to dr and get checked out. Hope you are alright. Good luck!

I agree with Ruby2122, everyone feels them differently. I never noticed my stomach hardening at all during my labour but the contractions started like cramps that just got worse and worse.

Thanks ladies. I couldn't remember what the name was for long early labors. I researched prodomal labor after you said it and I got back a lot of interesting information that sounds similar to what I have been experiences last night and the week prior.

After dealing with them for several hours, I was able to get some sleep for about 2 and a half hours and they stopped for the most part, I just have a dull ache in my lady bits now where the cervix would be. Lots of pressure though. So weird. If it is prodomal labor, I'd rather go through that for weeks and have him come out healthy and happy at term vs any earlier.

I'm going to be at the hospital today, so I'll definitely tell them what was going on and if it starts again. They may check me again, and I will be on monitors anyhow. which I don't mind if it puts my mind at ease.
