Just watching this programme on channel 4 and it got me wondering..

Hurricane Donna was retired in 1960 I think it was,as it caused so much damage...

Hurricane Dean was retired too...

Hurricane Harvey, was this year and apparently didn't do much.xx

I'm Hurricane Vicky..

Although cant see much about it LOL!

What a name for a hurricane!

Hurricane Anna was the first named storm and hurricane of the 1961 Atlantic hurricane season. It formed on 20th July 1961 and dissipated on July 24th. Maximum winds were 114mph and there was 1 direct fatality!

Hurricane Caroline - 1975 115mph winds
Hurricane Paul - 1982 apparently killed 1696 people.
I can't find a Hurricane Nathan. :nope:

There have been 3 hurricane Francesca's!!!! In 1966, 1970 and 1974!!!!

yeah the names go in cycles hun...unless they cause so much damage they are taken out and replaced with another name.xx

Hurricane Katie:
14th October - 19th October 1955
intensity: 115mph
68 houses damaged & 7 deaths!!

x

For some unknown reason, everytime I read the thread title I start singing "I am a shape" (from cbeebies Mister Maker)

1992 - Hurricane Andrew (FOB),
65 deaths
175 mph windspeed
catagory 5
(expected really all FOB does is cause destruction)

1975 - Tropical storm Amy (me) never made it to a full blown hurricane just a bad tropical storm

There has never been a hurricane Sophia, hurricanes are named alphabetically each year and its very rare that there are enough storms to get to the letter 's' during the season

I wasn't a hurricane but I was a "super typhoon"

Typhoon Vanessa (a.k.a. Super Typhoon Vanessa) lasted from October 22 to October 31 of 1984.

not for me and lo but I'm guessing there's loads for oh seeing as James is a pretty common name :haha:

'Hurricane Eloise was the most destructive tropical cyclone of the 1975 Atlantic hurricane season.'

Niether my OH or LO have been hurricanes yet though!

I am but with an extra E on the end - Helene

Can't find a Hurricane Joshua though.

When I looked, I came across this site https://kids.earth.nasa.gov/archive/hurricane/names.html --- got a fair few names including the retired ones
