I have mastitis in my right breast and within a day or so of taking the antibiotics, the pain seemed to go. I still have the red patch and some lumpiness which I massage as he feeds and I'm still on the antibiotics but apart from that all is OK. However, I think I now have a cracked nipple. It's absoloute agony when he feeds and I have like a line running vertically down the nipple that is like a crevice, like the other ones you get on your nipple but deeper. He also keeps chomping down on it randomly when feeding. I think it's because the milk flows too fast as that breast produces tonnes of milk and leaks a lot but I don't know what I can do to fix it? I don't have the time or memory to wash and sterilise my pump every night so I can pump the excess off in the morning to make it easier for him (this has worked a couple of times in slowing the flow down for the rest of the day) and as far as I can tell our latch is the way it's always been but it can't be if he's damaged me so I don't know how to fix it

Any tips? I'm going to health clinic at my work tomorrow so I'll have a chat with the health visitor and hopefully my colleague who is a breastfeeding advisor will be around but what can I do in the meantime?

Sorry no advice hun but hope it clears up asap for you :hugs:

I feel for you, I really do. I have been suffering really badly now Poppy has teeth and it's the worst thing ever.

Regarding your fast flow, could you try and just express some into a muslin when you feel letdown occuring? Also, could you have Theakston feed "uphill" so he is kind of looking down on you? This helped me.
