Arts and crafts etc for 1 year old...

Hi guys. Just after some ideas if you can help... My LG seems to be getting bored with her toys and I'd like to do some activities with her like arts and crafts / messy play / motor skills activities, but struggle to think of things on the spot.

Can you give me any ideas of things you've done with your LOs before?

I tried several ideas i found on the web when my daughter turned one but to be honest she wasnt really interested at that age. She is now 2 and only starting to find crafts interesting, and only for say 15 minute stretches. I guess the only thing she liked at 1 was finger painting but only for about 5 minutes lol!!!

At 1 Alfie loved things like dried rice died with food colourings put in different bowls with funnels and measuring cups and just enjoyed tipping them. I also found paper mâché fun messy as hell but he thought it was fun.

My LO LOVES to paint (with a paintbrush), color with markers (he doesn't press hard enough with crayons), anything that makes a big mess. We started off with coloring/painting crafts at 10-11 months old, and he does a great job. Now, he will help me glue things to paper, but the painting/coloring is still his favorite part.

Lucy loves painting and glueing... she especialy loves glitter and getting messy!

We do things like pasta/paint messy play - I put dried pasta on a tray, add some paint and watch her get her hands in, get slimey and disgusting.

We made a rocket using a toilet roll tube, paints and stickers.

We do hand printing..

I stuck 2 sheets of lining paper to the kitchen floor and we drew a town, I had bought DD 2 cars, so that she could drive them around the streets that we had drawn...

Lucy LOVES playing at the kitchen sink - she puts her apron on and finds her beach toys and just pours water from one to the other.. this can take upto half hour before she gets bored.

I think that I have as much fun as Lucy.
