Hiya

I am just doing an online shop and have seen asda smart price nappies!! Has anyone ever used these? I find asda smart price generally quite good but was wondering how nappies would fair!! Lol.

xx

I've seen them and some of the other 'value' type nappies and they are ok but they do have a thin plastic coating on the outside like nappies years ago had, this made me a bit wary as it isn't breathable like the type of materials used nowadays xx

i dont know about smart price but i use asda little angels and they r fab! no leaks and dont have the horrible chemical smell that pampers do- for less than half the price!

Ah yeah I know what you mean! Was so curious as to what they would be like!!

xx

Yeah we use little angels. Had nightmare with pampers and huggies!

xx

Little Angels for us too or Aldi own brand are fab as well!

another vote for little angels... most of the ladies in my baby group use these too... not sure about the value ones to be honest... be interested if anyone has tried them?!

xxx

Not much help with asda but i have used tesco value nappies, they were ok! Wouldnt buy them as a main nappy tho, oh got them when i sent him for nappies for nursery. They didnt leak and didnt give nappy rash just seemed to fill very quick and they are plastic material on the outside and have sticky tabs that once stuck wont stick again! Overall not a bad buy and if im ever super stuck for money i would buy them!

I think if used all day every day they might give nappy rash due to being so unbreathable. I'm old enough to remember when all nappies were like that xx

I found Morrison value nappies ok but a bit tough to put on as they don't have the front side flaps that tuck round their waist. Tesco value nappies brought him out in an awful rash straight away. I'm currently using up a load of simply dry nappies I bought for £3.64 a pack back in June sometime.

I think you can go too cheap if you know what I mean- I don't mean to offend but you have to wonder whats in them to make them so cheap? I wouldn't like to put it anywhere near my child if im honest- we used little angels once or twice and they were fine though!

I was just curious. I use little angels as found pampers and huggies (as she got older) absolute rubbish! I am sure they have certain standards so they cant put things in them that can harm babies but obviously some babies are sensitive. I am aware some families have to buy them as they cant afford anything else.

xx

I've never tried them, but I do find most supermarket brands I have tried aren't as soft around the waistband as the branded ones. That said, tesco and asda brands beat huggies hands down for me.

I think it's a bit off to suggest parents shouldn't be using them permanently because they can lead to nappy rashes and because they might have some bad stuff in them. All nappies can lead to nappy rash - yes even those apparently fantastic reusable ones - if this is something your LO is prone to. Nappy rash is not a new thing and as my mum has pointed out, we all had nappy rashes at one point. Whereas my daughter has barely ever had a rash and she's worn pretty much every type of nappy. The cost of nappies is massive. With the branded ones, much of what you pay for is advertising and the pretty packaging. Value brands are perfectly acceptable and if they stretch your pennies that bit further, or even if you can't afford to buy the brands, you shouldn't be made to feel you are compromising your child's health.

I agree totally. Like with baby wipes. I buy asda smartprice wipes as yes johnsons etc are thicker but I find for how many you use they are expensive. I used to use asda little angels wipes but realised the smartprice ones are actually loads better and only 51p per pack which is fab!!

Oh I hate all of the branded wipes, they smell awful. We use Tescos own and only ever buy them on special offer too.

Lol. Dont blame you!! Our tescos is RUBBISH as it is only a small one and as we dont drive it is a nightmare to get to the larger ones

xx

I'm not saying other parents shouldn't use them as they would be 'compromising their baby's health' tell me where I ever said that? Its just I personally feel for MY child that they would not be suitable and btw I buy value range stuff or the next cheapest own brand range all the time, I would buy the normal supermarket nappies but sometimes I have had coupons for brand nappies and they are on half price special offer too- this happened with Huggies a while back and they worked out even cheaper than the 'value' ranges. Often value stuff can be a false economy though and works out pricier per item or by weight than the normal ranges xx

I agree with the false economy often (but not with nappies) What bothered me were your comments if they were used every day they might lead to nappy rash. Not nice to hear if they are all you can afford.

And at any rate, the fact they aren't so super duper absorbent, they are more likely to be changed more often and not left on for hours and hours on end - which is what leads to nappy rash no matter which one you use.
