What does it feel like when baby kicks?

I have an anterior placenta so was a little later feeling flutters have been feeling what feels like kicks but as baby is lying so low I dont know if its maybe just my bowels lol.

still getting lots of flutters so I know lo is ok :)

Not stupid at all :) you'll wonder if what you're feeling is kicks for a while then one day you will just know that's what it is, it's unmistakable but hard to describe!

I have an anterior placenta too, and somehow, I'm feeling all of the baby's movements (well, most of them, I guess)...my only frame of reference was my first pregnancy, which was my daughter, who had a posterior placenta during that pregnancy.

At this gestation, you will probably feel more than "flutters". You may feel popping or poking sensations, or even twisting sensations, which is probably your baby rolling around. You'll feel SOMETHING soon, but with these darned anterior placentas, it is definitely tougher.

It's kinda hard to explain but to me it feels like little prods from the inside, my placenta is anterior too so I usually have to sit down to feel much at this stage. When you feel it you'll know:)

You'll know when you feel it! You literally feel their little arms and legs... feels like a octopus is inside of you when you feel their whole body shift around. :)

Not a silly question at all - unfortunately very hard to answer. So exciting :)

I also have an anterior placenta and I feel baby best when I'm laying on my back or sitting back in a chair. It feels like a quick thump from the inside. You cant miss it if you're sitting/laying quietly and focus on it.
the way I guarantee baby to kick me is when I'm relaxing with a cup of hot tea, I rest the cup on the top of my belly out of habit and EVERY time baby kicks the tea cup. Lol as if to say "get that cup off of me!" :)
also, after eating or drinking something cold and sweet, lay on your back. It feels kind of like a very big, very strong gas bubble popped inside. It really is unmistakable but I think with the anterior placenta we're still missing a lot of baby's kicks....for now at least :)

The only way I have been able to describe it to my DH is it feels like when your muscle twitches. But when you feel it you will know its better than that.

yes! This is a better description than the gas bubble one :)
its like a muscle twitch/spasm ...that's actually what I thought it was when I felt the first kick :)

Thanks for responding ladies :)

Looks like I will have wait a little longer for the first kicks after reading your responses. At least I now know what to look for :) x

It does feel like a gas bubble popping to me! Also when they are moving round, it's the oddest sensation, a bit like a washing machine in your tummy.

Wait until you start seeing the lumps poking out!

I remember before I felt kicked I wondered this too. Sometimes my baby kicking down low is like someone tickling me along me pubic bone lol. The kicks are so quick. When the baby has moved around a little it's literally like little thumps that feel similar to muscle spasms

The first time I felt it I thought it felt like a muscle twitch you'd get in your eyelid or thigh where it moves a few times without your control. Now it honestly just feels exactly like it is...little hands and feet tapping. When he stretches or changes position I feel pressure, and if I touch it with my hands it feels hard in one area. Sometimes it feels like my stomach is grumbling or gurgling except without the hunger feeling and down lower.

Yep, I'd say it feels like involuntary muscle spasms. In the beginning I think the "gas" I was experiencing was movement, but it was hard to tell until I was actually 21 weeks or so. I too have an anterior placenta and rarely feel them when I'm standing up or moving around. It's so cool once you can start to see your belly moving twitching!
