Attn type 1 diabs - how much insulin??

Recently I have been giving myself SOO much insulin and I wanted to know is it just me? I know I am supposed to be increasing them in the final trimester but I always assumed this would be week 30 onwards but right now I am going through one insulin cartridge in 3 days!!

Has anyone else had a dramatic increase and if so, when did the increase start?

I am already taking more insulin and I am only 18 weeks. But now only in the mornings. I take 3 times as much for breakfast but any other meals it is the same. And I never had problems with dawn phenomenon before pg. I think it starts to increase in the second trimester but slowly at first.
If you are not hypo then I don't think it is a problem...

Hi ...I found during my pregnancy I was uping my insulin every 2-3 days. At the end of my pregnancy I was taking a total of 156 units per day...in 5 injections. My regular doses are 54 units per day with 4 injections ( not pregnant). So it is not uncommon to have to adjust early on and go up an extreme amount. As baby grows your amounts will change. Don't worry about how much you are taking..look at your levels. If your blood sugar levels are good..your body needs that much insulin. I was a bit shocked at the increase in mine but my doc said" the amount is working with your body so don't worry about how much you are taking" Hope this helps

I'm a type II'er with an insulin pump and I'm sure you know I am taking more and more. I went from 124 units yesterday to 205 units today already and it's not even midnight. CRAZY

My levels are under control, but I can't BELIEVE how much I'm on. Have you ever heard of the Diabetic Mommy Site or RAWBETES? There owned by the same woman but the Diabetic mommy is AWESOME!! Rawbetes is a sister site that helps with food and is good for pretty much any time.
