Aurora
its pronounced aw-ROHR-ah. It is Latin and means "dawn". and apparently in some versions of the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty", the princess's name is Aurora.
And I love the nickname Rory

My goddaughter is called Aurora, and we call her Rory for short. She's 19 months now and even when she has her paddys she still looks completely adorable! ^_^

Ohh it's a gorgeous name!!!! Sleeping Beauty has this name in the famous old Disney version too, that my girls keep watching and watching endlessly..) So Aurora will always remind me of a beautiful and sweet princess. PLUS, the aurora borealis which is indeed one of the most amazing sights one can ever see!!! Amazing choice!!!!! Very feminine, classy and unique but definitely not "out there".

I am familiar with the "aurora borealis" where I'm from! Beautiful!

My parents best friends had a daughter called Aurora and like someone else posted we all called her Rory. She looked like an angel but was a terror, but it still hasn't put me off the name

This is also on my shortlist but would probably mainly go by the nicknames of Rory/Aurie or Ro. I'm not quite sold though and the two things putting me off are... 1. I don't want people thinking I'm a big Disney fan or anything - I just like the name. 2. Aurora is quite difficult for young children (and some adults!) to pronounce.
