Hey girlies, well I think its about time that I started facing up to whats ahead rather than burying my head in the sand:dohh:

In 2005 my darling husband and I finally got our act together and became a couple:cloud9:after lots of pushes from friends.

We pretty much decided straight away we wanted children and to pardon the cliche I knew he was the one. Two years later we still had no luck and was referred to assisted conception and waited. In the meantime we planned our wedding and happily married in july 08 in Antigua. On arrival home the next day we had our first appointment all positive we set off for a barrell of tests for me to eventually have laparoscpy:hissy:

Thankfully everything came back normal (unexplained infertility) and we have been offered luckily 3 IUI and 3 IVF and god knows I know we are so lucky cos some couples dont get that opportunity.:happydance:

So after months of being asked questions, countless blood tests and tests, being weighed and who knows what else I feel as if im sitting in limbo waiting for im not sure what:cry:

I have until now keep this matter quite private and only really discussed it with my husband and close friends and even at that I find it difficult to explain how I feel. I guess im starting to feel if all this confusion and waiting is a normal way to feel. Sadly the hospital dont really have much time to explain what is involved and answer all my questions so im trying to find out more online.

If anyone has any advice or words of wisdom it would be gratefully appreciated:thumpup:

Im so glad I have found this site as now I feel im not the only one on this crazy journey on what we all take for granted should be a natural right for us.

It is normal to feel a bit lost, expecially with the unexplained infertilioty diagnosis as its not realy an answer for whats wrong.

We got offered 3 IUIs aswell and thankfully the second attempt worked :D

I feel the same way, especially since all the tests came back normal. I myself just finished my first round of IUI and am hopeful that it worked. I know it's hard but stay positive. This site has helped me through the last couple of years as well.

:)

I really hope it works for you I will keep my fingers crossed. It doesnt make any sense when they say nothing is wrong still trying naturally though.

Good luck keep positive:hug:

Hi Scarlet

I've just had my first IUI cycle. I will get 3 IUI cycles and 1 IVF.

In terms of what to expect, it depends on whether you are having the IUI with or without drugs. I believe they sometimes try it with Clomid but its usually Gonal which is a self administered injection which you do in your leg. You take the drugs from day five for at least 5 days and then they will scan you to see how big the follicle is. They like it to be 2cm so will keep giving the drugs for a few more days to make sure its big enough. They will then give you a trigger shot (Ovutrelle I think its called) which will make you ovulate and 36 hours later you go back for the insemination. Your partner will have to produce a sample which they wash and then insert using a cathater. Its just like having a smear test really.

Then you wait and wait and wait for an eternity which is what I'm doing now. If the witch arrives on Wednesday then I get to start all over again!

Hope that helps
Millnsy
