How much content awake time does your 6 week old have each day? When they are not feeding I mean. I feel like I get 5-10 minutes maximum before she starts crying/screaming and needs to go back to sleep (which she fights and has to be on me). It is soooo tiring and repetitive... DS was just the same, so either it's normal or I just have grumpy kids.

My lo is 3 weeks and seems to be awake alot! He can go an hour quite happy looking at you or sat in his bouncer I really don't remember my daughter staying awake this long. He hardly cries he grunts in the night when he wants feeding. My daughter would scream and hold her breath so so far I think he's a happy chilled baby and I'm taking it while I can get it as I know how quick they can change! Xx

My DD2 is eleven weeks now but it wasn't until about 8 weeks that she had a lot of content awake time. She is actually a super content baby but she basically just fed or slept the first 8 weeks! Now she will be awake for an hour or more before fussing for food or sleep.

Thomas was always grumpy when awake as a baby. He only started to be happier when he figured out how to grasp toys around 9-10 weeks. He would maybe be happy for 20 minutes at a time then.

DD is grumpy most of the time too! She seems to be getting better the last few weeks but as DS was so chilled it is a shock to the system! She will manage maybe ten mins if she is interested in something but then will start crying. Hopefully as she can do more things she will stop being such a mardy bum lol x

DD is 3 weeks. Sometimes she is awake for about an hour, including diaper change and feeding + awake time, other times she barely wakes for a diaper change and sleep feeds back to sleep...

I don't really know what normal is for a term baby, DS was preemie and he slept all the time we weren't actively keeping him awake to feed as long as possible at this age...

Thanks everyone, that's helpful. I suspect my dd has silent reflux or intolerances as she flips from content to screaming/arching back and trying to get bottom wind out at the drop of a hat, there is no fussing stage. I have my check up with the doctor next week so will raise it then. She may also have lactose/cmp intolerance issues like DS did, I'm hoping not... Hopefully we can try gaviscon and see if it helps, it's so hard seeing her in pain. She falls asleep on me but the second I put her down, even if she's in a deep sleep, she is screaming 😢
