Hey ladies! I'm back on here after being gone for 2 years after having my son. HD and I are 8 our first month ttc our 2nd child. I have been keeping track of o for the last few months but this is our first month ttc. I realized I have a 10 day LP and have read stuff about B6 helping it, anyone else use it?

I had a very short LP, started using when TTC my son and got pregnant the month I started it.
Started using this past cycle (first one since stopping bc) and FF just took away my crosshairs, but originally said I ovulated CD10 (used to O cd22ish).

Hoping it works for you again! So for you b6 makes you o earlier?

If my original crosshairs were right then yes. I'm honestly not too sure what's happening with my cycle right now haha. Though the last time I conceived on it, I had my normal day22 O

I'm on Vitamin B6 (though swapping over to a B Complex in 3 days time).

I started off on the maximum dose (100mg), feared it was going to delay ovulation so stopped it immediately.

Second time I started taking it early into my cycle (CD3/4 ish) and I gained one or two extra days LP, that said - I had a beta confirm I was pregnant, so I can't really say if it's helped or not.

Are you pregnant now or are you talking about your last pregnancy? If you are, congratulations!
Can I ask why you're switching? I read if you take b6 you should take b complex with it but then I also read that taking them at the same time can be dangerous- so I don't know what to do.

I was pregnant, I had another very early miscarriage. I am now on CD8 following it. Tests didn't progress. Doctor ran a couple of betas. It's my 9th loss. Getting a little fed up of losing so many babies now.

I am switching because through my own research I have found Vitamin B6 complex to be more successful with lengthening the LP's. Up to you what you take. I won't be taking them together. I will finish the B6 that I have (3 more to take) then switching to the complex.

Wow, I am so sorry for your losses! I really hope the b vitamins work for you!

Hi! I was wondering :) if you take vitamin B6, do you start taking it from the beginning of your cycle or do you start from the day you ovulated? Does anyone know ^^?

I took from the beginning. Granted it caused me to O 10 days late last cycle...so B6 and I are currently friends off haha

Yeah :p I'd been taking it from the beginning, but got scared so I stopped. And now it seems like I'm about to ovulate, so not sure if that's because I stopped with the B6 or not xD... I'm questioning if I should start again after O-day :) ..

This last cycle I switched from Solaray Vitex to Gaia brand and added 100mg of B6, PLUS a regular B Complex vitamin. They say absolutely to take b6 with a b complex because the b vitamins work best together.

Taking all of those, my cycle went from 38 days to 27, my Ovulation date moved up by 10 days and my previous LP of 8 days became 11 days.

I don't know if it was changing vitex brands or the b6, but I will keep doing it.

Ah! So to make sure... you took vitamin B6 and a vitamin B complex, of just a vitamin B complex which had vitamin B6. What was the dosage of vitamin B complex you used?
Sorry to bombard you with all these questions :p ...

And you take both the Vitex and Vitamin B's all cycle long, right? Sou

Sorry, my son hit enter... I wanted to say: Sounds good to me :D

yes, I took a vitamin B6, 100mg (though I wish I Had bought the 50mg just to try it first, because i was worried it would delay O but the 100mg did end up working for me) and a vitamin B complex that had some vitamin b6 in it.

The reason for this is that the B vitamins work best together and you don't want to overdue one of the B's without the others to work with it. I did a LOT of research on B vitamins before starting. They say no more than 100mg of B6 or you risk having too much, but the B Complex I use only has 5mg of B6 so I don't think it is an issue. Other sites I've read say that 100 plus a little from the complex is okay but not much more, and as long as you aren't doing JUST a B6 you are okay to have a little extra, particularly if you aren't getting what you need from your food.

Dosages:

My B6 is 100mg
My B-Complex is a time-released B-Complex with Folic Acid + Vitamin C.
To be honest, I already used B-Complex daily before I started B6 because it helps me keep up energy (I'm a teacher, I need it! haha!)

My particular B-Complex has b6 5mg, and b12 10mcg, plus vit C (300mg) and folic acid and a few other things.

You CAN buy a B-100 Complex that is essentially a B-Complex but has 100mg of B6 in it already, plus the other stuff. That would reduce the number of pills you take. The only reason I didn't pick that up is that I had a hard time finding it, and then I already had a bottle of my B-Complex and wanted to be able to finish it first.

I take Vitex from end of AF - CD1. I stop taking Vitex when AF comes until AF stops to give my body a "break". Also, be aware that the brand of Vitex matters. I saw very little results with Solaray brand, but Gaia was amazing (it's stronger, 2 pills is 1,000 mg and it's liquid inside not powder).

I take B-Complex all cycle because I have always taken it all cycle.

The first month I tried B6 I only did it after O. Because I was afraid ti would delay O. That was the 2nd cycle I was taking Solaray Vitex. I got a 1 day increase on LP (from 8 to 9 days). The second month I took B6 all month with the Gaia brand and that's when I got up to 11 day LP.

This cycle I am only taking the B6 after AF ends, like the Vitex. Not sure if it makes a difference. Just don't like taking so many pills when on AF because I'm already not feeling well. :)

Sorry for the long reply. Hpe this is helpful! Remember, everyone's body is different so you may not respond the way I did.

Wow thanks :) very clear explanation!
I'm wondering... what do you do when you get pregnant? Do you continue up to a certain point?
Do you take prenatal vitamins?
(these are my last questions :p I promise)

Thanks. :) I'm a teacher, I try to be very clear. It also tends ot make me kind of wordy. haha! And no worries on the questions, ask as many as you want. :) I got nothing else to do right now! (school year doesn't start for a couple more days. I'm basicaly just sitting at home on the couch :haha: )

Not sure about what I'll do when pregnant. Definitely with the Vitex I will continue until I meet with a doctor and we determine what to do. I've done a lot of research. Some websites say not to use during pregnancy, others say it's safe up to the end of first trimester, MANY say that abruptly stopping could be bad for the pregnancy because Vitex helps to regulate your hormones and stopping could cause a drop in the progesterone (especially if short LP was your problem) and thus cause a miscarriage. Many ladies I've talked to who are working with a midwife or naturopath have said they've been advised to keep using up to a certain point (about 8 weeks) and then wean off. Weaning off is important, you cannot just stop abruptly.

Vitex is not listed as a pill that causes uterine contractions (like EPO), so using in the first few weeks should not cause miscarriage. My friends sister is a fertility specialist and she has said that during the first approximately 8 weeks the fetus is still protected by the "egg sack" so if you are taking herbs and stuff, it should not affect the baby's development until about then when it taps into the blood supply of the mother (that's why they say not to stress if you didn't know you were pregnant in the first few weeks and still had some alcohol or stuff because chances are very very low it actually reaches baby before 8 weeks).

With the B6 I don't know. I will ask my doctor once I get a BFP. I would probably continue until I saw the doctor and then ask for advice. However, Since b6 is water soluble, it diminishes each day (you urinate out any extra) so b6 has to be added every day. I think if I just stop taking B6 it won't make a difference. Vitex is not and so it does build up in the system. That is why most midwives and naturopaths recommend stopping Vitex during AF to allow a few days for it to "flush out" and give the pituitary a break.

As for PreNatals: I DO take PreNatal vitamins. I use a company called Melaleuca for my medicine (and other stuff like cleaning supplies, etc). They make mostly natural stuff - so cleaning supplies and meds are really good and (almost) all natural. I take their Prenatal Pack which includes a Prenatal multi-vitamin, calcium, and Omega-3 (fish oil). Those are actually a day and night vitamin so in the AM I take 1 multi-vitamin, 2 calcium, and 1 Omega-3. In the PM I repeat that but I take 2 Omega-3 (it's supposed to be 3 Omega-3 for the day, but I never remember at lunch so I take 1 in am and 2 in PM because in the AM is also when I Take the B-Complex, B6 and Vitex....my AM pills are a lot).

It's way more Prenatals than a lot of people take, but it's also the only multi-vitamins I"ve ever had that don't make me sick if I don't eat enough so I'm going to stick with it. I've been taking their regular multi vitamins for a couple years and I like them.

Thanks so much for your time and clear explanations ^^. I appreciate it very much.
I'm going to see what happens this cycle and based off of that I'm going to see if I think I need to give my fertility a little extra boost!
Chances are that I'll probably need it :p but I'm trying to be positive.

Your welcome! I really like being able to share the information I've learned. Makes me feel useful. :)

Hopefully you won't need any help, but remember that even if things are timed perfectly there's only a 25% chance of conception any given month anyway. So time is necessary. :)

Just out of interest, do you have any recommendations of how to wean off the vitex? I'm currently taking vitex tincture and have also read a lot saying it's better to stay on it during the first tri, but i'm unsure of how to wean off it (if i ever do get pg...)
