I had dd and ds2 in a shopping trolley today, sat next to each other. Ds asked to get out and walk but it didn't register that there were no straps on the trolley so dd toppled over and banged her head. I feel awful! Is there anything anyone uses to keep them in or do you just use reins? Shes too big for the baby bit and spends the whole time craning her neck. Awkward stage really

Could you wear the little one in a carrier/wrap until she is old enough to be a bit more stable sitting in the cart? I always just put my DD in the ergo on my back whenever I am shopping.

I do have an ergo but don't really use it? I'll have a think about both those! I need to do something as it's clearly not safe

Oh poor little thing :( I was thinking of putting DD in a proper sit up trolley this weekend sitting next to DS but now thinking maybe not  I will continue to put her in the baby layback bit (despite the fact she spends all her time leaning to look at stuff)

Oh just a thought but maybe putting a blanket stuffed around to cushion the trolley etc

I always used a wrap until she was probably about 1. It was much easier and then she could sleep if she needed to as well. I would say by 1 she was able to sit up fine in the trolley without needing the strap (though sometimes we did use it if she was trying to stand up or get out).

Mine were both sitting fine in the trolley by 6 months, but I would probably use a blanket or something to hold them in if not. You could even cut/buy a strip of fleece and tie it around her and the back of the trolley seat? Make your own soft belt? Otherwise your ergo sounds like a great option. I'll be using a manduca for this baby, and Sophie use to go on my back in a kinderpack because I couldn't see past her in the trolley once she was a toddler (I'm so short!).

I specifically bought reins which could also be used as safety straps for DS. Worked a treat.
