Hi all,

Was just wondering for those of you who have had the baby be born the opposite sex to what you were told at the scan, or know people it's happened to, how recently have these happened?

I wonder if they are getting more and more accurate, personally I only know 1 person it happened to and it was 5 years ago now

I know 2 people, one was about 6yrs ago and one was last year. My mum knows someone it happened to as well but that was a few years ago. All got told they were having a boy to actually have a girl. But both of mine have been right, this one is a boy so hopefully in august he doesn't turn into a she :) x

My friend was in hospital after giving birth to her baby boy, when another couple came over to her bed with a bag full of blue things and said "would u like these? We were told we were having a boy but a little girl has popped out" lol. My friend was delighted with he stuff of course, but what a pain in the backside for the other family! I think its rare now to be honest.. That was about 2 years ago xx

Oh wow, I always thought it was more common for them to get it wrong the other way too! I wish there was an easier inexpensive way of knowing 100% before they were born!

I someone who was told a girl but then had a boy, that was 16 years old... I think by now they should switch it 3D at 20 week scans to be 100% sure... Wouldn't hurt... x

It happened to a girl who was in hosp at same time as me. Girl was told boy n out popped a girl. She was devastated! Think it is very rare tho. Ironic that all through my pregnancy I'd hoped they got my gender wrong (ds2) but out he popped lol

A co worker of mine had it be wrong on Every. Single. One. of her three kids!! Different offices too!

Thats said, it think its rare. She was also in a different country at the time that is not especially known for great healthcare.

It hasn't happened to me but when I was in hospital having my son one of the ladies in my ward had given birth to a little girl and she'd been told a boy at her scan!

With my first it wasn't definite.. I was told girl based on the sonographer not being able to see boy bits. Her legs were closed so it wasn't easy to see. I can't really see how the cord could be mistaken for boy parts but maybe it does happen! With my son's gender scan his bits were REALLY obvious, lol. The sonographer said he was 100% sure even though they're not supposed to say that!

I know 2 different people that it happened to in the last 2 years !!

I only know one person that was told girl for like 4 scans then ooopsie it's a boy at an emergency scan close to her due date. She had the whole nursery in pink, even the cot. She ended up falling pregnant almost right away and ended up having a little girl :)
