Hi Ladies, Ive just posted this over in 3rd Trimester however thought it might be more appropriate over here because I know some ladies go for reg CTGs due to GD etc, Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light :)

I went into hospital yesterday for monitoring due to reduced movments. I was hooked up for approx an hour and twice it recorded that I had a braxton hicks/contraction and that babies heartrate dropped to 104 for approx 30 seconds while this was occuring. The midwife said she was a little concerned and I would need to see the doctor. The doctor signed the trace off without even looking at it and told me to go home. I really dont know whether to be worried or not to be honest, What if I keep having these and babies heartrate keeps decreasing?? Does anyone know anything about this???? It wasnt explained very well to me and midwife said it was probably baby lying on cord.

Hi I dont know if this is much help but i recently spoke to my midwife about baby's heartbeat. I was concerned as my baby was having some quiet days and when the midwife checked his heartbeat it was 130. My little boy has always been atleast 150 and the heartrate is checked weekly. so this worried me.

I had a huge talk to my midwife about heartrates and what is normal, she said she would be more concerned if the heartbeat was consistent as its meant to go up and down quite a lot. She said when your being monitored for an hour it will jump all over the place. She also said the further along you get the lower the heart rate will be and towards the end it will be much lower. Is there a midwife you can ring up and just discuss your worries with? To see if you can out your mind at ease?

i was in and out of the hospital between 32-38 weeks for risk of preterm labor. luckily the contractions werent dilating my cervix but i was monitored quite a few times and i remember worrying about seeing her heartrate drop each time. it would always come back up though. i was induced and gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby at 38 weeks .

My little man has an irregular heart beat and I see a cardiologist every three weeks, this showed up at 23 weeks. The Cardiologist said it is actually something she sees often as women are going into third trimester/late second. I say this b/c at my last check up little man was at a heart beat of 122 then dropped down to 92. I was like WHAT?? She was not concerned and said it happens, and the only way I would be hospitalized to ensure his heart beat is OK is if it went down to 75. I go to a doctor once a week, whether specialist or OB, weekly for heart beat check ups...In all honesty I think they are not worried so I am not either :) Good luck!

Oh and she said often with this kind of stuff the baby regulates by the end of pregnancy or at delivery...
